“Hmm… that’s an interesting thought,” she replied as she pondered the question. It was true that normally she’d ignore people that she didn’t know too well but it was also true that when she invited people over she didn’t know how she was suppose to act. Maybe she thought it was normal to let people access the entire house except her room, it was supposed to be common courtesy after all and she didn’t think much of it. Still that didn’t explain why she took a liking to him to let him into the house in the first place. It required some thought about explanations and wording.
“My past was something similar to your current situation, granted I don’t know the full details of your situation at all. Before I was able to get this condo I was alone for a good portion of my life. I remember a lot of weirdoes but I survived until I was given a stable place to stay,” she said with a neutral tone. Based on what she said it was sympathy and a relation of situations, but it wasn’t just all that. Perhaps her hard exterior masked a soft center in her that she didn’t reveal often. Maybe. “I don’t remember many people in my life but I knew that I did something that got someone’s attention and so now I’m here. I couldn’t just turn my back and watch you go if I could do something about it. Don’t know what else to say.” It wasn’t like she could not but more so that she really didn’t know what to say.
She leaned forward and picked up one of the two slices of toast. She’d take no butter or it lest she get fat and her manager lash at her for it later. Cereal wasn’t exactly what she wanted to eat at the moment either. She’d fix some to eat in a minute but for now… “Any other questions?”

Matt had locked eyes with Recita as she spoke, listening intently to her answer. After she had finished, Matt remained again after she had answered his question and broke his eye contact. So she had been in a situation that was more than likely worse than the one he had found himself in last night. To have a hint of what she had gone through in Recita past, it gave Matt even more respect for, on top of the respect she had gained from trusting him enough to let him stay for the night. After a moment of silence between the two, he finished his cereal and shook his head, glancing down at his PDA. There was still several minutes before the alarm was set to go off.
"Nope, none that come to mind." Matt said as he turned his gaze back towards Recita. He would have asked how she came into possession of the condo, but he had a feeling he already knew the answer. He wasn't a big movie watcher or a big listener to music, unless it was all instruments and no vocals. He figured she was probably a an actor or a singer or something of that nature, though based on the Hymn he heard last night, he ended up guessing she was a singer.
"Well, there is one more actually. You seem to be familiar with the Academy. Did you used to attend there or something?" Matt asked. He knew it was probably a stupid question. It was likely she had visited there once or twice for whatever reasons, and a visitor could easily remember the scenery of the academy. Green, Grey, Red, Yellow, and Blue. It wasn't easy to forget, considering there was more than enough of said colors flooding the halls there.

Recita watched Matt’s movements as he had finished his cereal. Since he had nothing else to ask her, she silently just started taking small bites from the toast she held in her hand. He seemed a bit paranoid about the time, perhaps meaning that he was still a bit uncomfortable there or something. She paid little mind to it as he did want to catch an early ride back to the academy and staying any later jeopardized the chances of that. With that she relaxed a bit and let the silence fill until Matt raised another question to her attention.
She didn’t mind answering it but it was what came with it that brought some ill memories. Still she would answer honestly since there was no purpose of keeping the secret up too long. “Yes, I’ve attended Duel Academy. However, I was more of a trouble child than studious during my terms there.” She replied with a shrug. That was true in either case people wanted to place it in. On one hand she always skipped classes with no excuse while the other hand held her shadow magic history. Past is the past though. “I left the academy a year ago. I’m not sure who’s still there but someone might recognize me if I ever went back.” Not like she’d remember them.

Matt nodded silently as he listened to Recita's answer. It was sort of hard to believe that she had been one to skip classes in school. Maybe his respect for her had moved his judgment on that part, but everyone had their flaws and mistakes. And she had only left a year ago. It was strange that Matt had never remembered seeing her there during his years there so far. Part of him felt bad for no remembering her, but then again, they had never met face to face before. He doubted he'd remember someone he never personally met if they walked up to him and slapped him upside his head.
"I see." was all Matt could think to say on the subject. He set his bowl down in front of him as he sat back on the couch, thinking if he had any questions left. None came to mind this time, so he brushed some of his hair out of face and sighed. Well, at least as far he could tell, he hadn't angered Recita, though something about her answer gave him the impression her days at duel academy weren't the best.
"Well, I don't have any other questions. If you have any for me, ask away." Matt said. There was still more than enough time for a few more questions, and Matt felt it was only fair and courteous to answer any questions Recita had for him.

Recita was silent for a moment as she thought about what to say to that. True, she was curious but what limit of questions should be asked that was appropriate? She didn't want to go too deep into his personal life after all. "Well... lets just start with the basics. You said nothing interesting was going on in the academy but I haven't been there in awhile. What exactly is going on there now?"
That was actually just a random question with no significance. However as she asked the question, her eyes were fastened on Matt as she waited for a response. Even questions with no significance had hoards of info in them if one knew what to listen for.

Matt thought for a second. He wasn't big in keeping up with events around the school, unless it involved a tournament or days off from classes. Even then, such events happened extremely rarely at the academy. There were plenty of rumors, some of which focused on the museum, though he could not remember what the rumors stated. Well, whatever it was, maybe it would interest Recita. After all, besides the classes and dueling, there was nothing else going on as far as he knew.
"Well, besides what I said earlier, I've heard people murmuring about the museum more than usual lately. I don't know what that's about though." he explained shortly. He didn't know what else to say on the matter, unless she wanted a detailed explanation on his class schedule, his classmates, or his teachers.

Recita couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the answer she recieved. True, that was an interesting little fact but it wasn't what she asked for. In all truths, that museum was asking for it. Keeping all those ancient valuable artifacts in one place was never a good idea. Good place to stay away from. Not the point though.
"No no. Hmm... let me put it this way. What do you think about all your classes and such?" she questioned again. She didn't remember taking any class aside from Shadow Science which was a total snoozefest. Sometimes she even went to the class for laughs, really even the name contradicted itself. So now she thought she'd hear life at the academy from someone more interested in the academy life. It'd make for good background knowledge for cover stories if not anything else.

"Oh... That's what you meant." Matt said, almost to himself. It was a bit embarrassing to him, seeing as it was only Recita's first question and he already ended up misunderstanding it. He thought hard for a moment about his time at duel academy, and what his overall impression was of it. He focused mainly on the classes, though his private lessons with the Assistant Headmaster were a prominent memory too. In fact, outside of dueling class, those classes were probably the most fun and educational. It was probably where he learned the most of his dueling skills.
"Well, up to this point, it's been a pretty large mix. Dueling and Deck Construction classes have been pretty fun. I think those are the only classes that don't repeat themselves every year. In fact, I think those are the only classes that are different every time I attend them. Even if I dueled the same person, it goes differently every time... Anyways, Duel Monsters class is alright. Not a lot going on there besides talking about the individual cards in the game. Sort of like a micro-Deck Construction class, except not as fun. Both Shadow Sciences and Duel History were alright the first year or two, but they got really repetitive over time. There's only so much they can teach you about ancient Egyptians fighting alongside of the old spirits, you know? As for Shadow Sciences, I'm not sure it even exists in today's world. I hear stories about how it was used in the ancient past and such, but I've never seen evidence of it in today's world. Unless I see it with my own eyes, I think it might just be a thing of the past, if it ever existed. Outside of normal classes, the academy is a pretty lively place. Whether it's dueling, shopping, eating, or just hanging out, you can't go anywhere without hearing something about Duel Monters, save your own dorm room. But even then, your roommate is liable to bring the subject up. Outside of that, the students are generally a friendly crowd and most of the staff is either extremely uptight and strict or pretty laid back and lazy."
It was a long winded explanation and Matt felt himself blush after he stopped speaking. He wasn't used to speaking so much at once, and he couldn't help but wonder if his answer had been way longer than he meant, or if he had even hit the point of what Recita had asked about. Still, he fell silent and glanced over at Recita to see what reaction she had about his little speech. Still, he hadn't told her about his training with Vahn, but that wasn't really relevant to the topic. Or was it? He didn't know, but if she asked specifically about it, he'd tell her.

“Ah…” she would say in understanding as she listened to his tale. He was definitely the type that actually liked the academy studies and such, which was a good thing. As Matt had given her the rundown of all the classes, she started to mentally compare them to her experience at Duel academy with less success than she wanted. But at least she got a few other things from the story that was relevant.
First off, he wasn’t a first year. That was one thing that sparked her interest just because that meant that they possibly had went to duel academy together before, but she lacked memory of him. Usually she had a good memory of these things but the more she thought nothing would come up. Perhaps she was getting a bit old for her memory to start fading such as it was. She did manage to remember and cross faces to description when he mentioned the staff. Good sign.
Secondly, he didn’t believe in the hocus pocus magic tricks. He had good right to, but he didn’t completely reject the idea. Actually quite open minded which was always a good thing. Hopefully there would be no need to think otherwise for him about the magic though. With that last thought, she smiled as she responded to Matt now. “Sounds like you’re having a good time at the academy,” she said with a lighter tone than usual. She took note of his blush and was a bit curious as to why. He didn’t strike her like the shy type. She spoke once again in the same tone as before, “Thanks for sharing… Uh, you feeling okay there?”

Matt blinked a few times in surprise, just not noticing how obvious he had been when he blushed. Though he did well in hiding most of this surprise, the way he reached back and rubbed the back of his neck would give him away... again. He put his hand back on the arm of the couch and relaxed a bit before looking back at Recita.
"Oh... Yeah, I'm alright. Anyways, yeah. The academy is fun and all, but I just want to graduate. I mean, I'm turning 19 in a few days and I'm ready to graduate..." he responded. It was true. He had long overstayed his welcome at the academy by now. The only reason he was probably still in the academy was the fact he was an Obelisk Blue, but even that excuse couldn't hold out forever. Still, he had grown tired of classes and such. He was going to duel, he wanted to do it for the masses, and his own entertainment and not grades.
"Is there anything else you'd like to hear about, or is that it about the academy?" Matt asked. He wasn't impatient or anything, but he didn't want to linger on his own embarrassment for that long... He locked eyes with Recita as he asked his question, waiting for an answer or another question, whichever came his direction.

"Hmm... well it is just one more year. You should enjoy it," she responded. She didn't give much thought about his age but just noted the fact that it meant that he was the same age as herself, except he'd soon turn a year older. Her thoughts flew back to her experiences again as she decided that the academy was more fun than the real world. Less to worry about above other things. "Your days in school will be the ones you most miss later, so try and leave on a good note. Rushing to get out won't make things better."
With that she took another bite out of her toast. There wasn't anything else to ask or say at the moment when she thought about it more. No need to drive deep into someone's personal life. there was only one more thing she was going to ask. "I think I've ask you enough about the academy though. Are you considering coming back or do you think you can make it on your own?"

Just another year of... fun... Matt thought. While he could see the logic in staying at the academy another year, he had already made too many plans to turn back. Reserving apartments and getting a job close by to his to-be new home, along with a few other arrangements. Still, Matt didn't know when his graduation would be, except that it was supposed to be in the near future. Until then, he'd just have to bear with it and have a great time, like Recita had suggested. After Recita asked if he would be making any repeat visits, he thought for a moment. Now that he had a job, lacking money for an apartment when he got stranded in the city wouldn't be much of a problem.
"Oh, I'll try not to trouble you with this sort of thing again. I'll make sure to carry enough money on me to afford a place to stay in case I get stranded again." Matt said. He looked down as he heard a loud beeping on the table in front of him. His PDA's alarm was going off, indicating that it was around the time Matt had planned to leave. He picked the device up and shut the alarm off, looking back at Recita. Part of his didn't want to leave, since he was enjoying the conversation, but he also didn't want to miss the first ferry heading back.
"Well... I guess I should head out." Matt said as he got up slowly. After stretching for a moment or so, Matt looked back over at Recita. He held back a blush as he spoke again, "Hey... Would you like to catch dinner sometime? It'll be my treat, and I still need to repay you for letting me stay the night like this..."

He still thought that he was causing trouble now? Recita made no comment as he explained as to how he’d support himself. Maybe he was trying to put her at ease, but it was still something to think about. At least he didn’t completely dismiss the idea of dropping by again. By the time she was finishing up her thoughts and her toast, the ringing from the PDA snapped her back to reality. That meant that he’d be going now right?
Recita just watched him as he had silenced the device and gotten up. There wasn’t much she could do at this point except bid him off. As she was about to however, Matt started to speak so she listened as she locked eyes with him again. She wasn’t really expecting anything in return for what happened, much less an offer to dinner, so she figured it might be fun.
A gentle smile appeared on her face as she answered, her tone a bit soft like the one used to sing the hymn, “You don’t have to repay me or anything really…. however if you insist on it then I’d love to catch dinner sometime.” She didn’t think much on the offer at the moment. It was a nice gesture but she was more so worried about being a burden to him than anything else. Still it would be rude to turn it down right?

Matt smiled at her answer, pleased that she agreed. Still, Matt couldn't just say the date was just for repayment anymore. He had to admit to himself that Recita's generosity towards him had definatly around a curiosity and a liking towards her. He forced himself to blink a few time in order to keep himself in reality, rather than sinking back into his own thoughts again. Still, when she spoke, it was hard not to think about the Hymn she had been singing the night before.
"Great! Is there any particular time you're free, or any restaurant that you'd like?" Matt asked. He figured it would be rude to choose a restaurant of his liking, as opposed to her own. Not all restaurants served a variety of dishes, and people did have their dislikes when it came to food. As for the time, skipping a class or two wouldn't kill him or his teacher, and his new boss seemed pretty lenient on when he called off, as long as he didn't do it excessively. All in all, he was free to go anywhere at any time.

It didn't take long for Recita to answer that question just because she didn't need to think about it. She had no particular preference in food types being that she hadn't been eating real food for a majority of her life and besides that it was clear that Matt had money problems. If she had said anything above his price range that he could afford it'd be awkward for him she believed. As for time, she didn't really care. She could always skip work if it intervened and if she picked a time during school then that would be a problem. If she was the one causing trouble then she might as well work around his schedule and everything else.
"Um. I'm about free whenever I want to be so whenever you can is fine. You know where I live so it shouldn't be a problem" she stated as she got up. Her stance as she got up was rather normal for her, with one hand at her hip and the other relaxed at her side. She'd show her guest out as per courtesy, but not before she answered his questions. "As for restaurants, I think you should pick that as well. Whatever you'd like would be great."
