It was around noon on Friday, and Matt had gotten to his destination about 20 minutes early to get the table and everything ready. Of course, he was forced to let the waiters to their job, which was what Matt was worried about. He was obviously dressed a bit differently. His blazer was actually buttons shut and his overall appearance was a bit more refined than usual. Still, when Matt was finally shown to the table, he couldn't help but stare.
The table was set up as if he were going on a romantic date or honeymoon. The red velvet table cover along with the fancy dishes could easily give someone a wrong impression. The only things missing was the ever cliched candles and the wine. He had suggested this meal as a friendly gesture, and also as repayment for her letting him stay the night. Still, by the time they had shown him to his table, it was just about noon. Well, at least it showed that this wasn't just a passing event to him.
He sat down, turned his PDA off, and waited for Recita to arrive. He left his menu unattended as well, as to not start without her and appear rude.

Recita was running a bit late as usual, but for good enough reason. While it wasn’t unlike her to be late in general, she usually wouldn’t be late for something casual that she wasn’t reluctant to agree to. At least it wasn’t extremely late, only three minutes in counting, and she was riding a taxi on top of that. The fact that she would show up in her work clothes proved her innocence.
Her work clothes were not horrible for the occasion though. As an actress, Recita naturally had a wide array of outfits to choose from, but it was just a lucky coincidence for her that the dress that she had worn for her scene had worked out well. The dress was black but had a print overlay with a floral design on it as it reached just below her knees. Accenting her figure there was some fancy beadwork on the empire waist and the entire thing being held up by spaghetti straps on her shoulders. Everything else about her was pretty normal aside from the hint of blush and the strapped heels she had on.
She was slightly worried that it was a bit much for such an event like a casual dinner. With the taxi arriving at the destination though, there wasn’t much she could do about it. She paid the driver the fare and rush inside, suddenly losing the feeling of worry from before once she arrived. Figuring it wasn’t the time to stand stunned; she started to look around for the one that had invited her but refrained from calling out his name.

Things seemed to have gotten quiet after a few minutes of waiting, seeing as he allowed his mind to wander yet again. Yet, it never strayed far from the date ahead. He had no idea what to talk about during these things, nor did he have any friends he could have asked for advice. Not that he would have asked, since he was the kind of man that liked to get things doe himself if he could help it.
When Recita arrived, Matt's mind had turned to his wallet. He had more than enough for the meal and anything they had wanted to do afterward, unless whatever she wanted to do cost thousands, was was a bit out of his range. After a few moments of looking in his wallet, he looked up to see Recita stepping out of a taxi. He felt his heart beat a bit faster at the, though whether it was out of nervousness or something else, he couldn't tell.
He got up and rose his hand to let her know where he was, even though he was approaching her. It was only courteous to escort her to the table and to see her to her seat. It wasn't long before he was close enough to talk without raising his voice too much.
"Hey Recita, good to see you. You look great." Matt said as approached. He had gotten a quick glance as he had come over, and he had to admit that she did look nice. As he spoke his last statement, he held out his hand so that he could lead her to the table, if she wanted.

Recita turned to see the one she scheduled to meet here, a smile appearing on her face as he had come to take her to the table. She had to admit that Matt looked nice and so she relaxed a bit as he didn’t seem to mind her appearance either. She found herself trying to keep up a ladylike appearance, keeping her hands together in front of her as Matt had come forward.
“You look pretty nice yourself Matt. It’s good to see you too,” she replied. As he had offered his hand to take her to the table, she placed her hand into Matt’s and smiled again. It was a bit of a surprise to her seeing as not many people were so chivalrous anymore, but it really shouldn’t have been. It was something she should have expected of him; he was an overall nice guy to begin with even back when he was at her house. At this point though, she was worried about being a bother to him.

"Thanks." Matt said in response to the compliment. He thought for a moment, searching his mind for anything he wanted to say before they went to the table. When nothing came to him, Matt began leading the way to the table. It wasn't very far, although the table was farther towards the back of the restaurant. In fact, they had arrived at their decorated destination within only after a minute of walking.
"So... How have you been since that night? " Matt asked as he pulled out a chair for Recita. He was being far more gentlemanly than normal, considering he was on a date. Normally, he'd have let whoever wanted to sit down take their own seat, while he continued whatever he was doing.

"Thank you Matt," Recita said impulsively when he pulled out the chair for her. It really impressed her how much of a gentleman he was. Most men were not even remotely as courteous as Matt was being now. She had to think about his question though, not really remembering what she had done in general for the past few days. It was actually probably just stuff to burn time. There wasn’t much in her life to note that might change her normal bored mood and her laid back self. “I’ve been good considering. Not much has happened in my life between the time then and now,” she replied as she looked to Matt.
She naturally crossed her legs and waited for Matt to take a seat before asking him the same question only in different terms. “What about you? How’s life in the academy going? Nothing too hard I hope,” she asked as she took her time to open the menu in front of her. Of course she's wait for him to do the same before actually really taking a look at it. More of a habit than anything.

Matt pondered the answer Recita had given in response to his question as he sat down. It sounded she lives a pretty dull life. Then again, if she was an actress or singer, as Matt suspected, she probably didn't have a whole lot of free time or freedom to move around as she pleased. This was probably the one reason Matt never wanted to be famous. Too much publicity meant he'd have people wanting him for sponsorships, which would lead to more fans and thus less freedom. He didn't feel like having a ton of fans watching what he did every single day, nor did he want journalists tailing him every where he went or limousines to ferry him from place to place. In the end, it was too much of a hassle.
After he had seated himself and gotten comfortable in his chair, Matt heard Recita fire the same question back at him. He didn't really have to think about it much. All there was to do at the academy was duel, attend class, and hang out with friends, which would eventually lead to a duel anyways. It was repetitive, to say the least, but at least it kept him entertained. If not by the monsters, the by the players reacting to fake wind and debris.
"Well, not much to say really. Besides class and dueling, there's not much going on at the academy. Work has been pretty slow as well, though that's to be expected with all of the other larger stores around the city..."
It was true. Since Kaiba Corp had it's HQ in Domino, and Industrial Illusions had a presence as well, the small game shop Matt worked at hardly got any business. It was a wonder how they were still in business, but at least it gave Matt a job and a steady income. Still, Matt's work wasn't all that interesting. What Matt was interesting in, however, was Recita's line of work. He couldn't go on guessing forever, right? Well, he probably could, but it'd bug him a lot more than it did now if he had to.
"Speaking of work, how's your working going?" Matt asked.

"My... work?" she questioned. She thought for a moment about that before it clicked that he was asking about her job. She didn't remember telling him what she did for a living but maybe her house made him curious. Or maybe she did tell him and she just forgot, though it wasn't too likely she'd forget something.
In either case she'd still have to answer the question. She'd assume that he knew what she did and just asking how her day was. Really if he was curious about what she did then he could have just asked afterwards right? "It's been alright. Been skipping out on a few sessions but it's nothing too intense," and by few she meant many. She shrugged slightly but more because her neck started to hurt a bit than showing indifference. The acting may not have been intense but a bit stressful since sometimes her job got repetitive.
She'd attempt to move the subject away from herself though. It was again a habit of her's but not without good reason. "And you? You mentioned a job but you're still a student, right? What is it that you do?"

Matt listened to Recita's answer carefully, but nothing in her answer indicated anything other than his previous guess on her occupation. He was convinced that she was a singer now, but he obviously would have a difficult time getting anything more about it. She didn't seem to like talking about herself all that much, and had already changed the subject back to his own job. While that wasn't much of a problem, it did make him even more curious as to why she was so reluctant to talk about herself. Perhaps she was just trying to be polite?
"I work at Kame's Game Shop. It's a small shop, but I'm the only one working there right now. Now that it's much of a problem. Once you get used to it, it's pretty easy work." Matt said. That was really all there was to say about it. There was usually plenty of work to do around the shop, but since most of it involved cards, it was easy work. The only hard things to do was unloading boxes of new cards, which could get pretty heavy, and organizing the cards by name, since there were generally hundreds upon hundreds of cards to sort.
"Anyways, you must be pretty good at what you do to have a condo like that." Matt said, though it was more of an inquiry than a statement. He had never heard Recita's name before, but that was probably because he hadn't really gotten into music. Nor had he gotten into movies either. Most of the movies made these days were cliched and not very good. If anything, he preferred video games, card games, and outdoor activities.

"Ah..." she said as Matt responded to her. Figures it would be a game shop of some sort, he was a student at duel academy after all. In any case this conversation seemed to be going in a relatively repetative pattern. It was like watching tennis as the ball kept getting hit back and forth between the two, honestly surprising that conversation was holding up.
But now the ball was back to her. Something about being good and her condo. "I'm moderate. Can't really say that I'm good. The condo was something I got after I realized I'd be staying in Domino for awhile, but it's not like its a mansion or anything." There wasn't much she could say after that. She wasn't sure what to ask him either so she'd leave Matt free to ask another question if he wanted. Though the way the conversation was headed, she wasn't sure if Matt really knew what she did or not or even if it mattered either way.
So she sat there like she'd normally do at some sort of formal occasion, her legs crossed and back straight. It was something she learned was proper from one of the acting scenes she had done, though it worried her to think it was a bit too formal. Now to wait and see how this thing played out

What Recita said had truth to it. A condo was not nearly as impressive as a mansion, but to someone like Matt, who made only enough to live in a small apartment, a condo was an impressive feat. The fact that she was so casual about it probably meant she had had it for longer than Matt had guessed. It made him wonder more about her past, seeing as he was roughly around his own age and had such impressive living space. He was silent for a few moments, thinking of a good way to keep the conversation going. A few question he had before came to mind, and he knew his curiosity would likely not end well. Curiosity killed the cat, after all.
"You said back at the apartment that you attended Duel Academy, right? How did you like it there?" Matt asked. He intended to start from the more recent things he knew before he delved into the unknown beyond, if it even went that far. Recita seemed to avoid these sort of things, and he wanted to make sure this was the case before backing off. He didn't want to alienate her, but he was also curious as to her past experiences at the Academy.
((Short post, sorry. =\))

Duel Academy? The question had made her silent for awhile. She really wasn't sure how to answer it really. It was a relatively enlightening experience, but that was about all she could say for it. “Well, its school. The drama that comes with school never stops until you’re out. Guess it was fun though, while it lasted.” She displayed a small smile on her face to try to lighten that statement up. At the same time she tried to think of any clear memory she had of when she was at duel academy.
But it was no use. It was all a blur to her and she didn't recall much of anything. It was only a year, maybe two years ago since she left the academy, but the time there just seemed like a blank page. Yet if it was a blank page, then it probably wasn’t a very important chapter in her life, so she wouldn’t care for it either way. No point to get down about it really.
However considering her characteristics, she could probably make something up that was close to what actually happened. It’ll appease his curiosity at least. Why she was willing to appease it, she wouldn’t know nor care to understand. “Never was the ideal student. Still managed to evade trouble from the staff most of the time. Who are the staff members there this year anyway?”
Maybe if a named clicked, then something would come up. If not oh well. It will keep the conversation at somewhere interesting at least.

Matt smiled. He was not familiar with much of the drama between the other students in the school. Hell, the most drama he had ever gotten himself into was when another student had accused him of cheating. The accusations were proven false within a short time, but it had still been enough to give Matt a good taste of what other students thought of him sometimes. Vahn's lessons had taught him to ignore such things in the long run though, and he had moved on with his life later that day.
Matt did not have much time to think back on the moment, however. Recita had begun speaking again, this time quoting on ho she had not been an ideal student, yet still avoided trouble. The question that followed made Matt think for a second. He wasn't great with remembering many of the teachers' names, but a moment of thought brought them back into his memory.
"Well, Amelia Force is the headmaster and Vahn Gale is the assistant headmaster right now. Stein is the dueling teacher, while Morrison is the teacher of Shadow Sciences, Glagsaw is Dueling History, and Grant is the Duel Monsters teacher. Deck construction has had a few professors so far this year, but none of them have stayed. Other business to attend to I guess..."
Just after he had finished speaking, a waiter had delivered their menus to the table and told them he'd be right back. It as typical waiter behavior, but there was little Matt could really do without getting on the man's bad side. He put the menu down, knowing what he was going to order already as he waited for Recita respond. Perhaps the names of the staff members had piqued her memory of the academy a bit.

“Ah yes, I remember some of them. I remember holding back a few laughs during shadow sciences and I didn’t really pay attention in Duel Monster’s class. Could barely pass Deck Construction for my life though, even when I tried.” She stated all this as she had remembered it. The names didn’t ring as much of a bell as the name of the classes. At least she remembered something, but considering who she was talking to, she probably wasn’t being much of a good influence. Still it was the truth and her nature rarely curved that.
“I don’t know much of anything about the staff though. Even Mrs. Force and Mr. Gale don’t seem familiar to me. Then again I don’t remember hearing about you around the academy either and you seem to be one of those students that’d be pretty popular around school.” She smiled a bit before she took a menu that the waiter had handed them and started looking through it. She didn’t really know what she would want from this place but she didn’t want to be so much of a burden. Most likely she’d just get the same thing that Matt was.

Recita didn't seem to remember much of her time at duel academy. He couldn't really blame her. His first few years at the academy had been a wonder to him, outside of the mental abuse the Obelisks loved to put Slifers through. Yet, after those first few years, it just turned into the same old routine every day: Get up, go to class, train under Vahn for a time, duel some students, and go to bed. There really wasn't much else to do around the academy, except maybe explore the mountains, forest, and ruins around the grounds.
Her final comment about his own apparent popularity made him think and blush a bit. He had never really thought about it, except how he would probably hate being popular. People would start expecting more and more from him, and eventually it would come up to bite him in the ass when he couldn't keep up with demands. In his mind, being popular would be more of a pain that being not popular in the long run.
"I don't really try to be popular among the students... Since most of my own lessons came from Vahn, I spent more time in the mountains than around the students. That ended about a year ago though, and since I don't really pay attention to my own 'popularity ratings', I really couldn't say..." he explained. It was true. In a way, Matt thought of the mountains like a second home, outside of his dorm room.
"Anyways... Where did you live before going to the Academy?"
