Adalheidis walked into the library, she was the knew Head Librarian, and as such, she would attend to her job to earn the right to be in that position. She loved books, so working in a library was like a dream come true to her, hundreds of books all around. The library was silent, save for the sound of pages turning and the occasional tapping of keys on the laptops. She walked around the desk, first order of operations, soft music, or dear god please?! It was way to quiet, she started playing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Symphony 40 in G min KV 550 It was very soft in the background as to not disturb anyone.

Jame had been sitting in the library. A book titled Life, The Universe, And Everything, was in his left hand and was held open as he read it. His right hand moved slightly with the tune of the song he heard. It was a subconcious act on his part, but he noticed the masterpiece after a while. A small smile spread on his calm face. Ah what a wonderful melody. While Jame didn't listen to Mozart as much as he did the works of Grieg or Sousa, he enjoyed the works of the composer.
As he finished the chapter, about half-way through the song, he looked up to the Librarian that put the music on. The smile remained on his face as he nodded to her in greeting. Should he go up and introduce himself now, or have the inevitable introductions later?
Jame decided on option one. Getting up he approached the desk and said, in a voice that wouldn't disturb any others in the library. "Wonderful taste in music you have," the word wonderful in English with the rest being in Japanese, a strange habit he had. "Mozart's 40th, correct?" That ever present soft smile was still on his face.

She smiled at the Professor that had came up to the desk, glad he appreciated the music as well as herself, it was a gentle song, which is what most library's play if they play music at all, plus it was scientifically proven that gentle music like Mozart helped the brain function, how she had no idea. "Yes, Mozart's 40th, you are correct." The order she spoke in would confuse people and would make them think she wasn't from Japan, but besides the fact that she was speaking in perfect Japanese said otherwise, she had always had an odd way to talk, it had never changed. Though she too spoke quietly as to not disturb the library rules.

Jame nodded as he was told that he was correct. He knew the studies about the effects of music. And he sometimes took advantage of them himself. And then there were other ways to use music as well.
And as for her way of speaking, Jame wasn't at all troubled by it. He was still new to the country and was far from a master of the language himself. He didn't even know anything was wrong with the order of her wording.
"I am Jame Grant by the way," he introduced, bowing as he knew was custom in this area. If he was in America he would have shaken her hand or, should he have been in a charming mood, kissed it. He wasn't sure of how that was in this country though, and didn't want to offend accidentally. He also never mentions that his granduncle fought in this country in WWII either. That too would be rude, and unwise in most cultures Jame knew of.
"I'm the new Duel Monster's professor. And you are?" None of that had been in English.

"Pleasure to meet you Professor Grant, I am Adalheidis Lideadha, the new Head Librarian." She said bowing for at least fifteen seconds before standing up, why for so long she had no clue, she had spoke after he stated his title and his question as to who she was. Yes she addressed him by his title, it was polite to, unless asked, or told, otherwise, that was her policy, as she that was how she was taught. He seemed new to the language, less fluent, so she just, good naturally, assumed he wasn't from Japan, or he was from a bigger area in Japan that spoke a lot of English instead of Japanese.
She was being as polite as she could, running her fingers through her light blue hair, as a nervous habit. It happened when ever she met someone knew, she wasn't that big of a people person, but she would live. Plus she'd end up meeting all of the staff and probably at least half of the students before the first semester was over.

"Please call me Jame." It was not a Japanese name and was actually a misspelling of James on his birth certificate. However the name stuck with him and he never chose to change it. In America it wasn't that bad of a name as long as no one called him Buffalo Bill as a joke. That was the worst part about it, but it was a very rare occurrence fortunately.
He noticed her hand going through her hair, one of those nervous habits people had. Hopefully offering her to be a first name basis would help. Jame was aware of it being polite in this country, but from his own home's customs, it made him feel old. He was in his mid/late twenties, he shouldn't be old. And now he felt a bit nervous now. "It is nice to meet you..." and he blanked out on the title he should give her. "Miss Lideadha?" He hoped his ignorance and use of the English word Miss wouldn't offend her. Still too early to offend.

She went from running her hand through her hair to covering her mouth so she wouldn't laugh, so she coughed lightly, trying her hardest not to break out in hysterics at his choppy Japanese, but not that she minded, when she was learning English, oh was it horrible. "Adal, please, it is easier? no?" She switched over to English, to show that he wasn't the only one with problems with another language. She didn't quite understand the concept of English so she often ended up saying 'no?' to see if they clarified what she was saying. Of course she couldn't even manage that most of the time with her Japanese. She was a silly girl, but she liked being silly, it was interesting.

"Yes, much easier," he agreed, switching over as well, his accent in this language clearly that of a northeaster American. He then repeated with, "Nice to meet you Adal." It was good to speak in his native tongue again. Made things much easier, and also prevented the occasional slip of a word in the wrong language.
And her laugh hadn't gotten past him, but he agreed that it was funny, or would be to him in retrospect. "So when did you start working here?"

"I was hire, last week."
She blinked, his Japanese was better then her English, which amused her even more.
"But is nice to meet you as well."
She smiled kindly, she was normally cocky, but this was a fellow staff member, she was going to be nice to him. And he seemed like a kind gentlemen so she had no problem with being a kind lady to him. She flicked her light blue hair out of her face again, her darker blue tatoos under her eyes actually being visible.

The first thing Jame noticed was that she used a wrong tense, but he could tell that English wasn't her first language, and it was a very hard language at that. Second were the tatoos she had under her eyes. With the hair out of the way there was nothing to stop him from seeing them. He didn't think it was bad. He imagined it was painful.
"Same here. Enjoy the place so far?" Jame had had a few interesting experience so far while he was here.

"Yes, iit is pleasent?"
She pronounced it like eat and she covered her mouth, she could understand English just fine, but when it came to speaking, she tried to avoid going into hysterical laughture like now. For she was trying not to laugh at her English, which was ever so bad, and it was killing her.

Jame smiled understandingly at her mistake. The smile only came after she stifled her own laughter. "That is always good news," he stated. "I like it here as well. Islands are always pleasant, even if they do have buildings taking up much of it." Obviously Jame wouldn't want to be on an abandoned island, however one with a little less distractions would be a great place to stay.
"So where are you from?" he asked, wishing to get to know her better, but still wanting to keep the conversation one that wouldn't cause much disruption in the library.

She smiled calmly again, only after managing to settle down.
"I am from, few miles, out of town. In country."
She was thinking a little harder about what she was saying and she was speaking slow enough to get the proper, well almost proper sounds out, but her speech was still blotchy, that would be understandable. Self taught English wasn't the best way to go.

"That sounds pleasant," Jame said, switching back to Japanese to make it easier for her. This would be better to have a clearer conversation. He enjoyed the rural areas and intended to spend some of his time at the academy in some of those less technological areas; beach, forest, etc.

"Me and my brothers and sisters loved it out there. We're just now moving closer to town, but still not quite in it either." She smiled kindly glad she could speak Japanese, trying to keep it simple. "May I ask where you originated from?"
