Is it true? What they say? Are we too blind to find the way?
There was to be another trial and another day. Her own trials would soon begin; since finding the Medium at the Spirit Festival, Anais had traveled with her considerably. But she did not know when she would meet another one of these Ice Barrier monsters. For now the icy maid proceeded to the dueling arena. She had no classes yet and would not for a time yet. She still needed to become accustomed to the school. But she was going fast. It was a dueling school; her mother said that she would enjoy it here. How bad would it be? She rested in her Obelisk uniform of a long trenchcoat and long blue skirt on the arena's floor. This was such an incredible place. Anais couldn't help but be in awe, although she was far too conservative to show it. She gazed at the face of the beautiful duel spirit beside her, the one who called herself Aisu and she could not help but smile a little at her luck of being here at this school, at this time, with this woman. "I would love to see this system put to work... just one duel... it's Kaiba's invention, it must be pretty high definition." she said cheerfully to her duel spirit. The spirit merely shrugged however; Aisu didn't seem to be that enthusiastic about duels. Fear of the unknown cloud our hearts today

The Headmaster never made any attempt to make his presence known. He loomed silently over the Academy like a phantom, only stepping in when necessary. He had been leaning on the rail above the spectator seats staring down at the dueling arena for a while now, his cape falling down past his shoulders. It seemed that the attacks on the Academy had ended for now and that Vahn's policy of letting the students handle themselves had turned out fine, for now.
Vahn's attention suddenly turned to the girl who had entered the arena. The aura of a duel spirit was accompanying her and in fact, a lot of students lately had spirits with them. Vahn himself hadn't seem his spirit in years. He wasn't even sure if he had one anymore. In any case, he continued to watch her silently.

The girl's duel spirit, Medium of the Ice Barrier was not invisible; in fact during the Spirit Festival, she was quite visible and quite solid as well. The Medium, Aisu turned her gaze to check upon the eyes that followed her master. But all that Anais could see was Aisu's robed body stop out of the corner of her eye. She stopped herself and looked back at Aisu. "Aisu?" The American asked her. Then the American followed her eyes and looked visibly stunned; someone was sitting in the stands and he was watching her. The girl turned to face him. Her Obelisk trenchcoat rustled against her long blue skirt and her two-inch high heels clicked against the ground. She had unconsciously reached her arm to her duel disc; a beautiful icy blue Cyclone model with snowflake designs. Already her deck was loaded into it. But then her hand fell from her duel disc and she addressed the man with ease. "Do you work here?" Anais asked with a firm voice. She seemed confident albeit a bit closed. Her euphoria at having such a wonderful first day at the Academy was wearing off; she couldn't imagine how she had been so elated before. None the less her duel spirit slid her feet behind Anais and she herself (the human, not the duel spririt) put on a curt smile. "You don't look like a student if you don't mind my saying sir."Fear of the unknown cloud our hearts today

It was strange that a student actually approached Vahn and in a few moments it became clear why. She didn't seem to know who he was. That figured, as everyone who did know rarely engaged in conversation with Vahn. The girl was probably one of the newest students at the Academy. The Headmaster looked her over for a while before answering the question.
"Yes, I suppose you could say that."
He gave one of his usual short and not very straight forward answers. It was up to the girl to make whatever she wanted of it.

Is it true? What they say? Are we too blind to find the way? "'Suppose you could say that'? It's a yes or no question... it doesn't need to have something vague added onto it." Anais replied. Her whole demeanor spoke of someone who was amused though and not someone who was trying to be arrogant or demeaning. Anais' gaze pierced him and then slid back to the dueling arena. With one quick bound she hopped up onto the arena and with another smooth motion she had smoothed out her skirts. She walked to the center of it and stared all around. The room was so hollow and large. It was incredibly dwarfing. "Have you seen this system run, sir?" Anais asked the man. She had no idea that the Headmaster was sitting before her. He looked too young for that. She just thought that maybe he was one of the assistants to one of the teachers. It seemed right. She tapped her heeled foot against the platform and listened to the echo around the room; another thing that made her feel like a dwarf in comparison. She couldn't wait to see this thing run. OOC Note: Oh man... it's so short. Sorry!Fear of the unknown cloud our hearts today

"I've witnessed several duels here, yes, but this kind of technology just isn't to my liking. A sturdy table is preferable."
He said and he walked down closer to the arena. All of this technology certainly didn't appeal to someone as old fashioned as Vahn. Whether he liked it or not though, even the Headmaster couldn't deny that this field was capable of some impressive displays.
"You seem impressed by this stadium and that leads me to believe that you are new here. Any longtime student has already become long accustomed so such things. I suppose Kaiba Corp is to thank for it."
Vahn stood still, his cape covering his body. He was always calm and somewhat mysterious. It was hard to tell what he could possibly be thinking.

Is it true? What they say? Are we too blind to find the way? "Oh..." On Anais' face, clear disappointment was reflected. Yet this was to be erased momentarily as her eyes trailed to Vahn's body carefully. Maybe if she was really nice about it, she might be able to perhaps humor her in a duel. It was an interesting thought. Her body shifted from foot to foot as she pondered how she would do this; how would she get this man to duel? She then realized that outright asking might be the best course of action in such circumstances. "Yep, I'm new here... that's why I've never seen anything like this. I know that you just said that you don't like these sorts of things but... do you mind a duel with this thing, if you have time to spare?" Anais asked. Aisu's eyebrows flew into her hair as she heard her master say this; she didn't think that Anais would let her curiousity get the better of her to ask. But it did, and she had asked, and it was only up to Vahn to answer. Fear of the unknown cloud our hearts today

Vahn could tell by the look in her face that she was really set on having a duel here. It really wasn't to surprising for someone who had no prior access to holographic technology to feel this way. In any case Vahn figured it would hurt to have one quick duel.
"You seem sincere in your request. Very well, I will give you one duel."
He said walking up to one side of the arena and drawing his duel disk from his cape. His disk was the oldest model around, most people probably wouldn't even recognize it as one anymore.
"Whenever your ready."

Anais started her turn. The turn obviously started with a draw and then went from the Standby Phase to the Main Phase... the first of course. Anais didn't have to cover these basics. She studied her hand well. It was a strong hand and she'd be able to make an impact with this hand but she needed to play it correctly. So the young woman started her turn. She at first played Water Hazard. The holograms of the duel arena made a card show beside her on the field of a tidal wave spraying forth from a rectangle. The holograms made water flood around the field and then wash up on the water a monster after Anais activated its effect. Out spewed from the water a white-haired man. He weilded twin katana in his hands; the catch about the pair of katana was that they were made entirely of steeled and tempered ice. He wore a robe and scarf of a blue and white color. His own eyes were hard and flinty, as if he had seen many battles. He kneeled down into Defense position. This was reflected by how the monster kneeled to one knee in the hologram and crossed his swords in front of him in an X. "Say hello to Inner Warden of the Ice Barrier in defense mode. As long as he remains here on the field, you cannot select face-up Ice Barrier monsters as targets with the effects of Effect Monsters. Then after that I'll use my Normal Summon and get someone to join him." She laid down another card and out from it came another figure. It was another man who had an icy hunting knife in his hand. He was in another robe; albeit this one was much less warm, and handwraps were around his muscular arms. Anais looked on in awe at the definition of the holograms; she could swear she could touch him. "This one is Cryomancer of the Ice Barrier. When I control another Ice Barrier monster, your Level 4 or higher monsters can't declare an attack. I'll set one in the spell and trap zone and I'll call it a turn. Your move."

Vahn pulled out one of his decks and inserted it into his disk after shuffling it, then drew his hand. His opponent here had an Ice Barrier deck it seemed. An interesting choice to say the least.
"With this Convert Contact card I can send Dark Panther from my hand and Flare Scarab from my deck to the graveyard and draw 2 cards. Next I summon this Elemental hero Stratos."
Vahn placed the card on his disk and true to the first design, he had to throw it. The hologram was generated by the disks spin. This was where duel disks got their name to begin with. As Vahn's monster took form it appeared severely discolored compared to Anais' cards, but what more could be expected from such an old model. Stratos' effect pulled a Prisma monster card from Vahn's deck to his hand.
"Now with the magic of Fake Hero I'm allowed to special summon any Hero from my hand, my choice being Neos. He might not be threatening alone, but when I combine him with this Wrath of Neos spell card...well, you'll see."
The spell was activated and after Neos was returned to Vahn's deck, all other cards were eradicated.
"Of course this leaves me open, so enjoy your next turn." 3 CIH Empty Empty 8000 LP GY - Dark Panther Flare Scarab Convert Contact Fake Hero Stratos NeosRFG- Empty
