It had taken a good deal of time for the building to be repaired, but the month of December had come to a newly-rebuilt Shadow Sciences classroom. Sadly there was too much other destruction that had been caused, there was so much work to be done...it was depressing.
"I'm sure the students will be fine, Amy..."The maiden's reassuring smile was met with a comforting hand on the teacher's shoulder. That's right, because of a kind of overlay between planes and how things worked, spirits became as solid as the rest of them. It was slightly reassuring to know that, even for only a month or so, she would have a protector should anything happen.
Still, there had to be classes, but she knew this would be a very interesting idea to see how full her classroom would get.
Lesson 3 - Planar Overlay Theory & Duel Spirits Prof. Amy Morrison December 1, 2010
This was going to be interesting, but at the least Amy would have someone to help her keep her students (and their spirit partners) in line.

Post by Robert Zanrou on Dec 1, 2009 11:28:15 GMT -5
As usual, Robert came into class early. As a matter of fact, he was the first to arrive. Despite all of this. . . . . weird shit happening, Robert was still up for classes. However, his mood was a little more cheerful.
For one, those damned elemental demons were gone. And two, his Gladial Beast deck had finally been figured out. The strange power emitting from the deck were just two Duel Spirits. However, a combination of the barrier thinning and Robert's fighting spirit freed them.
Behind Robert was Laquar, the anthropomorphic tiger. Despite Heraklinos and Gyzarus being his spirit partners for this deck, they still have connections. And the two of them set up Laquar as Robert's hand to hand combat trainer. Naturally, the two of them became fast friends.
However, Laquar wouldn't hold back on the training. He would train Robert in quite a few ways. From lifting weights, to sparring with him. Usually the spars had left Robert with a bruise. However, the only visible bruise was a shiner he acquired recently. Robert could last through the pain though, as he's had much worse. At least Laquar made sure he wouldn't break bones or anything serious.
Gyzarus wouldn't have entered class due to the fact that blowing a hole into the roof would be even more damaging. And Heraklinos was currently working with Gyzarus. So for now, Robert was with Laquar, Heraklinos' younger brother. Even though they were fighters by nature, Laquar had decency about him. He taken an acceptable place in the class.
Also accompanying Robert were the Ojama twins, Red and Blue. Robert had not forgotten about his Ojama Country deck. After all, it was the deck that had gotten him the Gladial Beast deck. The two of them had done something that would be considered strange to those who knew them. They had ACTUALLY refrained from bickering for once. The recent events had given them the grounds for a little bit of peace. However, people like Robert would end up questioning the length of this brotherly peace.
After taking his seat and getting his supplies ready, Robert was ready for class. And this time, he was well rested. Without the nightmares plaguing him, he wasn't trying to avoid sleep. And as a result of the recurring nightmares ending, he was in a much happier mood to. It seemed that the black eye didn't bother him at all. Despite not being a fighter by nature, the Gladiators would shape him into one. This he did not mind at all.

Hoshi was thankful that everything was safe now, although he was dragged into the class by his spirits. They all wanted him to go in, even afetr what happened. He had chosen the class, right? Then he should go. Maju was the most persistant, threatening to make him have nightmares forever if he didn't toughen up and do it. So the boy went into the class, teh spirit stalking him as he went to his seat. He didn't notice anything else at the moment but slowly took his seat, scared. "P-please forgive me..." he said to the teacher in his seat. "I... I should have helped you... I'm sorry..." The spirit nodded as he said this, fading back into his card.

Heard walking through the hallways, everyone in the class would have heard the shouts. "Come on, let's go! We better not be late for class!" Takuto's Reckless Summoner shouted. "Ok sheesh, you're worse then my mother..." then he remembered how his nonexistent family ties and began to decrease his pace. He quickly realized his mistake as Reckless Summoner hit him on top of his head and said, "Stop feeling sorry about yourself and continue moving forward!" Takuto gave a small smile as, in her own way, knew how to keep Takuto's spirits up.
The rest of his Alchemy monsters were exploring the island. Firewall Dancer had wanted to come as well to his classroom but Takuto managed to persuade her to join Death's Advocate in search of hidden caves. Last thing he needed was for the newly reconstructed class to be burned down, as he was sleeping in hos bed when the spirit festival began and in her excitement, Firewall Dancer started a fire in his room. Thankfully Aqua Enchantress managed to minimize the burns but from that point on Takuto had to be careful not to excite Firewall Dancer too much.
Passing through the front door, he went straight for his seat in the front, trying to avoid eye contact with the professor. H didn't want her to know he had faced a spirit in a duel after what he had witnessed during the spirit's return. Acting like everything was normal, he grabbed his textbook and hid his face behind it. Reckless Summoner, however, was ecstatic about having her first class in the human world, looking at everyone from her seat next to Takuto's.

Post by Marvelo Namaguchi on Dec 1, 2009 21:27:51 GMT -5
Marvelo calmly entered the room with Rallis the Star Bird, on his shoulder. At first glance, she could easily have been mistaken for an oddly colored eagle but seeing her star charm the correction would come eventually. The both scanned the classroom for an appropriate place to sit. Whispering something into Marvelo's eye, Marvelo glared Rallis and continued walking. His wings shrugged to his response and Marvelo rolled his eyes.
The connection and relationship between both of them was confusing. Marvelo was a strictly serious person. He took things exact unless he found a way to abuse the situation in his profit. Rallis on the other hand was a more gentler creature. Her big ideal was aiding others and making sure they came out successful in their endeavors. Both didn't really care for the others motives but no matter what they still found each other friends. People were different, and even duel monsters. A friend was a friend, as long as trust was the bond.
Marvelo took his seat three rows up from the bottom. This class would be one of the many he took more seriously. Ever since the duel his interest in "shadow magic" had increased. He had to know everything about it. Maybe there was more to it than others had explained. Maybe he could find a way to obtain it? Maybe not. He recalled the shadow duel in his head. His strategy was perfectly done and through one card everything had turned back on him. Had the shadow's provided this...overturn of power?
Rallis jumped up and landed on the table. She rested down and looked at the board. A cunning smile appeared on her face as she saw the lesson for the day. It would be nice to see how the humans were teaching students about her world. Or even about the duel spirits in general. The Spirit Festival was a great time to escape the dimensions of the Twilight Realm. Thank goodness all the trauma was over.

"Everyone, settle down please!" Teacher and spirit said in perfect (yet eerie) synchronicity, trying to get things worked out. However, the place was already crowded as is and would only get more so, meaning Amy would need to run this classroom very tightly. And yet there was quite a while before class started, so she waited for more students to file in, although she had a couple ideas on where a few where...

Louis walked into the class, papers in a folder neatly placed under his arm. The rest of his appearance could not be said to be the same. His hair was a bit of a mess and he looked to have bags under his eyes from lack of sleep, but he was perfectly composed. Ever since the demons were defeated, Louis had not been able to get a full nights sleep, and had spent nights looking through his books and notes. Now with spirits walking in this world, Louis could actually see them for the first time. He did not feel as concerned about them as he had with the demons, the spirits were more like the angels and saints of the bible.
He sat down in the back of the class, ignoring the spirits in the room and opened his folder. He had not given up on finding some sort of power source that could be harnessed to fight the demons.

Ethan trudged into class with a sigh. So many people here...what was this, DMCON? He never understood why so many people were attracted to the cosplay aspect, but more often than not they happened to be cute enough to pull it off, so he didn't give it much mind. Duelist Legacies OST - Another Day of Broken Promises (Greg Patillo - untitled)Of course, there were a lot of things weighing heavily on his mind currently...and his grades had slipped as a result. He needed some help, and skipping classes was not the way to do it. Even though this was the class he was failing, there were just too many things that didn't make sense...he numbly waved to his fellow obelisk and took a seat, barely registering the girl in green, staring at him from a dark corner of the room.

DJ hurried into class, barely noticing the spirits until he was halfway inside, having a bit of a surprised freak-out once he was made aware of thier prescence. He yelped loudly, looking around, surprised, he'd seen some of them around but mostly it was just that he hadn't noticed them ahead of time and thier prescence surprised him. He had no spirits with him so seeing them around was not unfamiliar but not completely comfortable either.
He sighed, blushing at his little utburst and resigned himself to sitting down, preparing his books for class. He hoped the class wouldn't have any more surprises for him to embarass himself with, but he knew that it probably would. It was just a matter of time now.

Evan had made a run towards class. He didn't want to be late for one of his first classes. And to him, after all of the shit that he had happened, this was an important one. Shadow Sciences would help him better understand what went on around him. First it was demons wielding fire, and earth and shit. Now its these Duel Spirits manifesting physically.
After making his run to class, Silpheed was seen standing near the door. The angel of the wind was waiting for Evan. Ever since the two had met those years ago, they have been best friends. At first Silpheed was a mentor figure for the boy. For years he had given Evan advice on many things. But now the physical age gap between the two was becoming narrow. Now Silpheed was more of a 'best friend' figure to the boy. Neither of them minded this in the least.
The two of them had entered the class. As Evan entered the room, he saw Professor Morrison. She was one of those on the inquiry about his entry of the forbidden dorm. The two others had said that the professor spoke for each of them when she had dropped the charges. With a smile, the boy had said "Hello Morrison-sensei!"
Evan had then taken a seat, Silpheed standing behind him.

Seeing that it looked like everyone who was gonna show up had, Amy started her lesson.
"Alright everyone, please settle down. Now, I'm sure most of you know what duel spirits are, so I won't bother going in depth about a definition there. What I am interested in is what you know about them. For starters, where do they come from? And no fair having your spirit tell you, because I'll know if they do." She smirked at the last comment, because she was sure someone would try it if they hadn't already.

As Amy spoke about Duel Spirits, Maju stiffened up, eager ot hear this. This could prove to be interesting... As she spoke about the question, Hoshi turned ot Maju, more surprised than wanting to ask a question. "I... didn't know that... I thought you all came from cards."
"Of course not." he said. "You realy are an ignorant fool."
"But then, wh-" Hoshi started to say but put his hands over his mouth, keeping himself from speaking. Instantly, he went silent, turning back to the desk and towards the teacher.
"Hmph." said the monster. "I guess you're obedient to that woman... Don't bother asking me or Nyan, she won't answer your question." He then faded out, leaving Hoshi alone... to mope. Sitting there, he kept trying to think, hoping to find the answer himself. After a while, he decided to take a shot in the dark.
Hoshi raised his hand quickly, waiting until he was called, and then giving his guess. "Um..." he began. "I'm not sure... but do they live in another world...? Maybe?" That was the only explanation he had up... He doubted there was a place they could live on earth... so another planet was the only explanation he could think of.

Ethan wasn't really paying attention, he was too caught up in his own little thing to have even registered the question. But he figured he would take a stab at it, with any luck he might score some brownie points with the teacher.
"Aren't they from one of the other planes you talked about in the first lesson? Not this one, not the shadow realm...the other one?"
It was at this point that he noticed the shy girl in the corner. Like so many people around, she was dressed in strange clothes, identifying herself as representing Familiar-Possessed - Wynn. She pulled it off admirably, too...and she was pretty cute to boot. Their eyes met for maybe half a second, and she turned away, blushing. Probably nothing...

Naturally, Evan knew the answer to her question. First of all, he went to a previous branch of this school. He had gone through the classes before, so he's had this taught to him. This was his senior year, and he wasn't the type to daydream or to sleep in class. Luckily he was able to pay attention.
Secondly was his connection to Duel Spirits. He has known Silpheed, Dark Simorgh and Eatos for quite a few years. And it was the first year of knowing them that he asked. They gave him the answer he wanted.
Evan had spoken up after the others had gone. He said, "Duel Spirits come from their own realm. I believe it is known as the Spirit Realm."

Amy nodded, but it was her partner who answered. "That's exactly it, the spirits normally reside in their own plane, separate from this realm. While in this realm, your kind are solid figures where we spirits are phantasmal, in the Spirit Realm it's the opposite, we are solid and any human who somehow manages to find their way there is spectral.." Amy picked up where Mia left off, after letting the students take notes.
"While that's the science of the spirits, it doesn't explain why it happens that the spirits have a solid form here and now. That phenomenon is due to something called a 'planar overlay'. Anyone hazard a guess what that is?"
