Traveling aimlessly around the hallways, Zekai was just looking for a way to kill time. There didn't seem that there was much going on, despite that part of the school had been destroyed in some kind of accident and the forbidden dorm had been burned down. He wondered how he can make things interesting again, as he could never handle a slow day. For a split second he also wondered if anyone from the preceding years would recognize him but he dismissed the thought as soon as it came, thinking about how foolish it was for him to even think about it. Throughout his life he had never met a person who never thought about himself first.
Sure, it probably began with being abandoned as a baby, but even in the orphanage there was a hierarchy among the children that nobody dared to challenge. Zekai, however did and dueled his way so that people respected him through fear, though he never really relied on such pitiful followers. Even when traveling he heard tales of woe that helped feed his anger on humanity overall, dubbing them as selfish beings that would do anything to survive or feel better about themselves.
In any case, Zekai was heading towards the library. Not much could be said about him except that nobody would be able to identify him based on general class, as he never wore his obelisk uniform and instead adorned himself with his usual attire, comfortable to run in and pretty much gave him the freedom of mobility that he enjoyed knowing he had than when wearing those confining vests. He didn't care much about the school ranking system in general, as it was all done in a controlled environment with dueling "tests" and a written exam. A person would change however if their lives were on the line...that's when a person's true strength would be revealed.

A common day. Unseen by those confined between walls without transparent glass. Through the eyes of vibrant jade that is held by a fair female obelisk, transparency remained everywhere. Sight stifled in a novel of old, surrounding awareness stood mute. Clatter of heels striking the ground immersed in the ramble of words. Nonchalant.
No falter in each step. The placid figure done well evading bodily contact. In passing a lone boy, the thud of the novel closing on itself echoed softly. Yet the maiden still failed halt. The jade stood upon the engraved then elsewhere through. A book’s end foretold the chapter vitality.

It was quite unusual for Vahn to be seen sauntering around the school, in fact it was quite unusual for him to seen anywhere around the school to begin with even thought he was the headmaster. Most of the staff were able to run things just fine and all Vahn had to do was keep an eye on things from the background. His interference with any school affairs were so minimal that barely any of the students even knew he existed, and that was how be preferred it.
Over the past few weeks however, events had occurred that even Vahn couldn't look past lightly. Parts of the school being destroyed, students being hurt by magic, it was all very disturbing to say the least. Even so, Vahn had stuck to his principles of not getting involved in the troubles of others for the wrong reasons. Some of the students were doing everything in their power to alleviate the crises and that was experience well earned on their part. There was no reason to give even the slightest worry.
Vahn made his way slowly through the halls. His body, as always, was covered by his cape and his expression was akin to anger, though it was how he usually looked. The place was fairly empty, as most of the students were probably encouraged to stay away from the area for now. Of course there were always those who ignored such warnings and stuck around anyway.

For a moment all of Zekai's body seemed to cry out as if to indicate someone similar to him was nearby. This feeling was soon overcome by the cold air that followed after, lingering in the air as he soon saw the approaching figure. It was that of a female Obelisk strolling down the hallway. Both of them walking towards each other, it seemed as brief as an eternity. Yet upon reaching each other both continued on towards their destination, wherever hers might be, but it was clear that they had nothing to say to each other.
After that surprising encounter, Zekai was to receive yet another surprise as the headmaster himself was in the same hallway Zekai was traversing on. Emanating an intimidating aura as always, not because of his position but because of something else, Zekai especially had nothing to say to him. This was a person who did very little until a crisis had reached its climax, and even then he might sometimes not interfere. This was one of the few times Zekai had actually seen the headmaster and as he approached Zekai wondered if the headmaster was going to question him or the like.

Crossroads. The ancient book dropped to the side of her placid figure as she turned back slightly at her stop. The shimmering jade spheres gazed to the boy she had just passed and the man she met from the forest. Set course. The girl strode once again to her objective, as the gems receded back to target.
Absent to the feeling of warning. Annulled to the consideration of evading. A small smirk graced the usual stone face of the moving statue. Points of elegance stray downhill towards refraction.

It was probably no coincidence that the two students who happened to be walking down the hall were both Shadow Duelists, though Vahn was only aware of this in Mesmere's case. Mesmere had apparently driven Vahn's former student mad in a duel and he hadn't been heard from since. Of course Gale didn't blame himself for this. Leon had everything he needed in order to him. Leon's failure only seemed to solidify Vahn's beliefs that he wasn't the one he was looking for after all. All of that being said, Mesmere still held some amount of interested to him.
The other student in the hall also had somewhat of an interesting presence about him. Vahn didn't have any kind of shadow powers himself so he couldn't detect others who did. That didn't mean, however, that his senses were dull. In any case Vahn wasn't the kind of person to start up conversations with random students. If this third student wasn't here Vahn wouldn't have hesitated to confront Mesmere for the shadow item she won off of Leon. Vahn happened to have need for it, but now wasn't the best of times to do something about it. Instead he'd stay back and see how this played out.
