Kyo was lying on a large, grassy patch on top of the mountains. He had a book in his hands which his eyes quickly skimmed through the words, He only had a few more pages left of the book and wanted to get them finished as quickly as possible. He finished the last page of the book and placed it to the left of him. He let out a large sigh and crawled on his stomach to the edge of the mountain. He could see the academy from his height pretty well. He often wandered what it would of been like if his family could of afforded to got him the cards to let him go here. He often saw students in their blazers walk by him, Often the ones in blue would make rude remarks about the ones in red. He didn't really understand why. The yellows seemed to be the neutral ones.
He let his legs dangle over the edge, He enjoyed the gentle breeze that being so high gave him, It slapped him in the face but not to hard. His green hair rustled widely in the gently breeze and a strand of it managed to make it's way into his mouth. As like most people he went crazy trying to get the hair out, he lost his balance and swayed over the the edge. He manged to regain his balance and chuckled out loud at his near plummeting death experience.

Zephyrus loved the mountains. He would often indulge himself on a good walk through the hills. The assistant headmaster had exceptional balance and agility, and he was a shadow duelist, so he had little to worry about in his mountain treks, but he still made sure to stick to the established trail and to watch his footfalls. It was just one of those instinctive things where he would dot his i’s and cross his t’s. Zephyrus liked the solitude of the mountains; he liked the way that he could gaze out and let his imagination run amuck and be free from pestering students that liked to take advantage of his office hours by asking him stupid, inane questions. Something about high school students disappointed him immensely, so he preferred when he could branch out on his own.
But his spot wasn’t free.
As he approached, Zephyrus noticed the presence of another person there. He seemed to have come to the mountains for reasons of his own, as he was perched near a ledge and absorbed entirely in his book. Unfortunately for him, he must have been too absorbed in his book, as he nearly lost his footing and toppled off the edge. Zephyrus approached, feeling that the polite thing would be to introduce himself. In actually, he did not really care for social obligations, but while out in public, he should at least keep the illustrious Dunavant name pristine. His family empire and his younger sister’s brilliant dueling skills were world renowned, and Zephyrus, always the black sheep of the family, made sure that his Byronic demeanor did not drag that name through the mud.
“You should really be more careful,” he spoke casually, having moved so stealthily behind the green-haired man that it must have seemed like he suddenly appeared from thin air. “The ledge is no place to play.”

"Hmm?"
Kyo turned his head to see the man standing behind him. Kyo wandered on how the man manged to get behind him without really making a sound but that wasn't really important. His eye scanned the man in front of him. Kyo sighed. Why had this man had to come up to him. Couldn't he of just saw him their and left him alone?.
"Thats nice to know...."
Kyo stood up from the edge, The man was right behind him so he had to be careful while standing up not to fall. He turned to face the man before walking around him. He sat back down next to his book. He picked it up and began to read it again, from the first page. 'Shadow Magic - Volume 1'. He pretended not to be paying attention to the man but his eyes were stuck to the person, He used the book to cover his eyes a little bit while he watched the person carefully.
"Any reason you have come here? Or did you just want to annoy me?"
Kyo let out another large sigh and finished reading the first page of his book. He licked his finger and flipped onto the second page...

As much as the assistant headmaster usually disliked them, he had to give a slight chuckle at this particular moron. He really took a lack of intelligence to an extreme.
Zephyrus had had enough of pseudointellectual idiots that thought they were so much wittier and smarter than they really were. Unfortunately for this fool on the ledge, Zephyrus was not the kind of person who would simply sit by while they idly pretended that they were God’s gift to humankind. In fact, as much as he was willing to display tact and charm himself, if someone were to fire the first punch, they would find that Zephyrus was a very willing counterpuncher; and he wasn’t a regular at losing these confrontations. This man would be an idiot to test him.
“Actually,” he replied with a charming smile and shrug, “This is my usual spot to get away from cheeky, snot-nosed punks.”
Most of the students he had to deal with simply weren’t very bright individuals. They often thought themselves better than they were, but they just weren’t very good or very smart. With a blasé shrug, Zephyrus turned his piercing gaze onto the kid, knowing full well that he was staring at him while making a poor attempt at blocking his line of sight with his book. The fact that he thought he could obscure his eyes with a book only seemed to reinforce that he wasn’t the brightest crayon in the box—few people read with their book head high in their arms, after all.
His voice remained almost eerily calm and suave, “But, imagine my surprise when I find that my spot just happened to be occupied by another cheeky, snot-nosed punk. I guess I’ll have to resort to pushing him off.”

"Eh!?"
Kyo shrieked and backed further away from the edge, He didn't know this person, He didn't know what they were capable of and he didn't like how a person could talk about murdering someone in a sweet and calm manner. He put his book down and and backed up a bit further.
"I'm sorry sir, Please don't hurt me..."
Kyo pleaded with the stranger in front of him, His green hair covering the scared look in his eye. Kyo didn't like talking to strangers, let alone talking to ones he had told him he might push him off a mountain, He was shy and petite. He didn't want any trouble.
"I'm so sorry, If I'd known this was your spot I'd of never of came!"

“Relax, Mr. Takahashi,” Zephyrus replied with the slightest of wry smiles. He had known of the person since he had submitted his resumé to the school, and he had been the one that had approved of his credentials before the interview process, so naturally, Zephyrus knew of the person when he finally showed up at duel academy to work in the library. He had a defusing elegance to the way he spoke, and he hoped that the green-haired boy would get the memo that he gig was up.
But with a ‘tsk,’ Zephyrus made sure to teach a valuable lesson, “From experience, there are a lot of bad situations that could arise on Duel Academy. I don’t think it’s a good idea to try to pick fights with the people that approach you.”

Kyo let out a huge sigh of relief. He recomposed himself and bowed down to the man. He still didn't know who this person was, He hadn't introduced himself but Kyo didn't;t see him as a threat anymore. He walked over to the man and introduced himself, He didn't really see the point in doing this as the man already seemed to know his name
"My name is Kyo, Kyo Takahasi. Library assistant."
He pulled out a small pair of glasses and put them over his eyes, To make him seem more stereotypical to his job. His eyes scanned the man again, Kyo had only known a few people while being at the academy, This man seemed to know his name so that must meant he was someone of importance because Kyo hadn't told anyone his name.
"I'm guessing you are the headmaster or something?"
Kyo questioned the person. He thought he had hit the nail of the head. He picked his book up again and held it tightly in his arms waiting for a response from the man...

“I’m aware of your new position,” Zephyrus answered, flashing him the slightest of charming smiles, so slight that unless Kyo was perceptive, he may not have even noticed that it was there. But the imperceptibility did not make it any less significant or powerful. Zephyrus did not usually smile broadly or grin, so even the slightest tug against the corners of his lips tended to have an almost startling effect.
“I’m the assistant headmaster and Obelisk Blue dorm advisor, Zephyrus Dunavant,” he told him. If he had been keeping up with things, he may have connected that he was the eldest son of the legendary Dunavant estate, or that he was the Zephyrus Dunavant that won one of the Grand Prix’s, or that he was the older brother of the best duelist in the world at the moment, Adelphie Dunavant. But even if he was famous, nothing about Zephyrus’s demeanor or words seemed to suggest that he paid it any attention. To him, celebrity was not necessarily a good thing.

"Hello Headmast- Assistant Headmaster!"
Kyo smiled at the man cheerily. He walked over to Zephyrus to offer handshake. He gave Zephyrus a proper look. He recognized the last name from somewhere, Maybe it was from the TV or maybe his mind playing tricks on him. And then it snapped.
"Ooh You're that guy his is the brother to that guy who done like really well and like won that stupid card game tournaments thingie!"
Kyo was quite hysterical for some reason, Maybe it was because he had met his first famous person in his life. And it wasn't him he recognized from the TV it must of been his bother or some sort.
He pulled his small hat from his bag and put on it his head. He adjusted it so his hair didn't look a mess. He walked back over to the cliff and smiled looking down at duel academy, The wind had seemed to have died down a bit. He let out a small chuckle.
"So then, Anything you want from me, Zephy?"
He turned back to Zephyrus and smiled again. Kyo wasn't as shy as usual. He must of been ill.

Zephyrus looked at him blankly for a few seconds, a few seconds that must have felt like an eternity for the nervous green-haired boy. Even though people usually recognized him for his name, or at least for his sister’s celebrity, Zephyrus never did enjoy it when people simply saw him as that one guy from TV, or that one guy who was the brother to that really famous duelist. It just seemed like an insulting and intentionally limited view that people used.
“I’m the brother of that girl who won all those stupid card game tournaments,” he corrected, amused that the boy didn’t even know that Adelphie was female. The fact that she was a girl was one of the most famous things about her, which simultaneously made her into a sex symbol as much as it was that she was arguably the top duelist on the planet. In fact, it was easily debatable that she was much more renowned as a celebrity and fashion icon as she was a duelist, and she certainly had considerable renown as a duelist. In fact, Zephyrus considered her the one duelist that he put on high regard than all others. Ever since she was out of the crib, she had an incredibly knack for finding the best possible play and making the best reads in any given situation.
“And I don’t really want anything from you. It’s just a coincidence that we’re here on the mountains at the same time.” There was a hint of bemusement in his voice as he thought of how the green-haired library help had considered their meeting a matter of the assistant headmaster ‘wanting’ something of him.

Kyo hated moments of silence and Zephy making him wait for a few seconds did feel like an eternity. During the stare he broke a sweat, He didn't know if he had said something wrong or if the man was trying to make him feel uncomfortable. After the silence and then man finished talking, Kyo let out a small chuckle.
"Hehe, Sorry I don't know much about duel monsters. A stupid game in my opionion..."
Wow...What a stupid think to say to an Assistant headmaster of an academy based all around teaching everyone there about the 'stupid card game'. Kyo let let out a huge sigh.
"Sorry. It's not stupid, I just couldn't really afford to play"
Kyo let out a weak, fake smile. He wished he could of played with the rest of the children at card games but his parents couldn't afford it and before he knew it he was nineteen with a job. He didn't have time for the game. He didn't really see the point in learning anyway now.

He couldn’t afford to play?
While Zephyrus knew, at least mentally, that the game was fairly expensive and a lot of people couldn’t afford to buy the best cards, the concept of being too poor to play the game was so foreign to his opulent lifestyle that he took a moment to wrap his head around it. He did not want to come across as shallow or unforgiving, as he simply did not know Kyo’s lifestyle or financial means. He did guess, however, that he did well enough for himself to become an academy employee—the job had no shortage of applicants and he was the one that the staff had ultimately chosen.
“Well, that’s easily remedied,” Zephyrus mentioned nonchalantly. “Staff members have discounts on the cards, and I can spare a few booster packs that I never bothered to open.”
Zephyrus did not like to shop much, but whenever he did, he usually had trouble refraining from buying everything that caught his attention. In the end, he usually had everything that he needed with plenty of packs to spare. The unused packs ended up sitting in the corner of his room, piling up until they were a mountainous pile. When Zephyrus said he had a ‘few’ packs that he could donate, he doubted that Kyo imagined that he would be unloading them by suitcase.
“And I’m sure you’ll catch on to the game soon enough…”

Kyo looked in awe as he was handed a suitcase of Duel Monster cards but he was a bit more surprised that the headmaster kept a suitcase full of spare cards on his person. He flicked the opened the suitcase and had a little rummage, for spare cards they weren't bad at all, He was pretty sure he could get a decent Lightsworn deck and a decent Stardust Dragon deck out of the cards. He looked up at the assistant headmaster and his large green eyes swelled up with tears.
"T-t-thank you..."
Kyo's voice was dry yet full of emotion. He stood up and launched himself at Zephy, Grabbed him around his back, hugging him in a embrace,
"This means a lot to me....Thank you "
The few tears that ran down the side of his face landed on Zephy's jacket as Kyo hugged him.Maybe he could win some money by dueling, Maybe Zephy could teach him, Like a mentor.
"You could be my teacher!"
Kyo let go of the man and jumped back as the idea sprang into his mind. The tears now gone and his eyes were full of excitement. Imagine all the things Kyo could do with a pro as a tutor. He could go places in the dueling world.
