Alexander stood outside the entrance to his mother's house, why they had to live seperately whilst in Domino he would never know but his mother had always done things in ways he hadn't understood. Still, their relationship was healthy and he was happy without a father figure around, hence his visit today. He rang what he thoughout was a doorbell and after waiting for a few moments decided that he was either wrong about the doorbell or there was no one home.
"Hello! Mum?"
He waited again and after decideing that no one was going to answer the door he removed a key from his pocket and made his way inside. Perhaps she was still asleep? Today was her only day off from work and so he decided to make his way up to the bedroom. Climbing the stairs he looked around the house, it seemed too large for just his mother, he though his dorm at the academy was too large, but this house was ridiculous, probably payed for by the company though so his mother certainly wouldn't complain.
"Mum?"
He opened the door to his mothers room and noticing the bed was empty he frowned, in it's place was a letter, neatly wrapped in an envelope with his name clearly etched on the front. He moved to collect it, wondering exactly what had caused his mother to leave a letter for him, as if expecting he would find it here of all places. Why was it not sent to the academy, why had she not said whatever was written in it to him directly. They only lived fifteen minutes away. Ignoring the thoughts he opened the envelope slowly and removed the letter inside carefully.
My Dearest Alexander,
I'm aware that after reading this many a question will arise in you're mind. I ask that you only let the answers come to you rather than seek them out. I am afraid I must leave you for an indefinite period of time, Bussiness has called me elsewhere and that is all I can tell you right now. There are things you are going to discover about me and yourself that you will not like over the next few months, I am sorry to say that I cannot tell you more than this, but time nor the circumstances at hand permit me to do so. Whatever happens Alexander, know that I will love you always, even if you cannot reciprocate such feeling.
With greatest love,
Mum.
As he finished the letter Alexander frowned, of course he had his questions and he had never been one to disobey his mother's wishes but this letter raised so many that indeed he would try and find the answers. What was this bussiness that called her away? Why had she only sent a letter? What were these secrets she talked of? All his life Alex had never considered the possibility that his existence could have included some level of complexity, he was simply the boy from Oz... the idea that there was something more to him was all to difficult to comprehend.
Folding the letter carefully and placing it in his pocket he made his way back downstairs, his mind plagued by thoughts of what the next few months would entail. He didn;t even know what to prepare for, but in that space of time his life would change forever, wether he wanted it to or not was regardless.
As he closed the front door behind himself he wondered where he would go next, the desicion was easy. He only had one place to go, the academy. Suddenly, moreso than ever he felt isolated and alone, a foriegner in a world he did not truly understand.
