Anticipation. That's all that filled the mind of the corrupt CEO as he sat impatiently in the hospital waiting room. The setting did not make it any better for Blane. Uncomfortable chairs with poor excuses for cushions, tacky carpeting, soap operas playing on the one TV and to boot other people gawking at the large black dog he had with him that clenched an odd, golden brick in it's maw.
He had already been questioned about the animal many times, after all, the hospital had a strict "No pets" policy. He had tried everything to get the thing into the place to, going through all kinds of humilating dramatics. In the end he had to bribe the hospital security into letting him bring the thing in with him. Usually he would hate to spend money on something like that despite being as rich as he was, but this was his old teacher, partner and "friend" Sam G. Uther, so going out of his way was something normal for the young CEO.
Sometimes I wonder why I do these things for the old man. He gets himself into so much trouble. Oh, well....I guess it's just repaying my dept for helping me get to where I am today.....and besides, he's good for comic relief...and that never gets old. Blane thought to himself. He began to reminisce about all the good times he and Uther had when he was interrupted by the kind and charming voice of a pretty young nurse. ..
"The patient is ready to see you Mr. Ashford."
"Alright. I'll be right in." Blane responded. He took hold of the dog's leash and walked out of the waiting room into the area where the patients where being kept. the other waiting room occupant's eyes following Blane out, still gawking at the dog. As he walked through the hallways to Uther's room the dog caused quite a ruckus. People stopped and gazed. One hosptial worker walked right in it's path and nearly dropped the hospital food he was carrying from shock.
"Room 411, looks like where' here. I know your eager to see your master...so lets go." Blane said to the dog as he petted it. Now the dog was usually nasty and foul to everybody but Uther, however, Blane and Uther have known each other for a long time, and thus the Dog and the spirit within it also had grown accustom to Blane. So, the dog respected the CEO, though it's true loyalty was to Uther. Blane opened the door and entered the room to great his partner and former teacher.
