Alexander had finally managed to drag himself outside, although he'd missed the large majority of lightened hours in the days. It was in the early moments of the evening when he finally managed to get himself out of the Ra Dorm's where he had been setting up his own room all day.
It was only this morning he had realised just how large the academy grounds were, the campus itself was massive and from what he could see through the window in his dorm room in was only a minute aspect of the entire property. It reminded him of home, wide open space, except you didn't see kangaroos around here, nor koalas, it almost made him sort of homesick.
He sighed and looked up towards the sky, the moon was full and yet he couldn't see very many clouds at all. Another thing so very different from back down under.
It would be morning back home right now...
In order to stop himself dwelling on the thought he shook his head and looked around, he was eager to explore and make sure he got to his classes on time tommorow. He wanted to make a good impression on his teachers. Without a second thought he looked towards the main block of the campus and started making his way there, whistling a tune as he went.

She had been here for two years and she still managed to get lost sometimes. The academy grounds spanned miles, and the forests were often so nondescript that she would thinks he was walking in the right direction only to get lost and end up somewhere completely different. Luckily, the main paths were well marked. Unluckily, Masami was usually too preoccupied to actually read and comprehend the signs to such an extent that she could actually follow them back to where she needed to go.
The other nuisance was just how far the Obelisk girls’ dorm was from practically everything but the beach. While she liked to go tanning on the beach as much as the next girl, she still disliked the long trek that she had to make just to get back to her room to sleep. She needed a good ten minutes just to walk from the dormitory front door to the Main Building, and that is if she walked briskly—something that never happened with Masami.
If she couldn’t find the road back to her dorm quickly enough, the sun would set and she would be lost in the grounds at night. That was one of the cases tonight. She must have taken a wrong turn somewhere along, and failed to actually go to where she needed to be. Now, lost and alone in the dark, Masami had to resort to rummaging around whatever was in front of her, hoping to find some landmark that she recognized. The darkness usually didn’t bother her, as she was perfectly aware that nothing happened in the dark that didn’t happen in the day, and she was usually so spaced out on music that she didn’t usually pay enough attention to get scared, but she had to admit that being stuck, alone, without a clue of where she was, in the middle of a dark and chilly forest could get a little unnerving.
Crossing the precipice, Masami finally emerged from the trees and entered a clearing. She must have managed to get close to something, as she could see lights in the distance from the Academy buildings. Had she not worn her headphones and blasted her music up, she may have noticed the whistling from the other person that also must have gotten lost on the grounds.

As Alex travelled on in his rather random manner he heard a sound that was most certainly not his own whistling, Out of nowehere it had come and he turned to find himself facing it's source. From what he could gather the girl would lose her hearing before she graduated, he could hear the music she was playing despite the fact that he was easily a few metres away from her.
Where this new face had come from he did not know and he certainly hadn't expected to meet anyone else tonight, it was strange indeed but perhaps all Americans were like this. He shook his head and smiled, that was just like saying he rode a Kangaroo to school. Amusing, but stupid.
"Hey! You thought about turning it down!?" He called out.
