Each step she took produced a soft audible noise as she walked along the Courtyard. Not knowing anyone in particular, she decided to just lounge about and try to enjoy the day, worry about making friends later. But even so, the bright sun was beginning to get rather unbearable, especially with the heavy yellow coat she wore.
She leaned upon a nearby tree, watching the scenery.

It was a good day, a nice day, a glorious day to escape the troubles of the Slifer dorm and just lounge around and enjoy the sun. Jaeger had every intention on doing just that, allowing his mind to wander as it pleased and just bask in the warm light. While, technically, he could do the very same around the dorm, that meant having to listen to the loud students that lived there. Jugan was always a fun guy to hang out with, but sometimes one just wanted to escape the loud and rambunctious attitude of his roommate.
Jaeger had climbed his way up into a tree earlier, reclining against the trunk while sitting on a thick lower branch. The shade of the leaves offered protection from the sun while offering a good amount of warmth. To the Slifer, it was a perfect place to be today. And it showed by the way he was oblivious to what was going on around him. In fact, one might say Jaeger was very close to falling asleep where he sat.
The arm his Duel Disk was attached to dangled next to the branch, that extra weight slowly tugging him to the side. Poor Jaeger didn't notice this, going on daydreaming about one thing or another. Until he fell out of the tree, that is.
With a thud the boy hit the ground on his back, glad that no rocks were there to make it that much more painful. He lay there, a bit winded. Thankfully he had been on a low branch, and the fall hadn't been too bad. Nothing broken, just an annoying throbbing. "Owwww," he finally hissed through clenched teeth, pushing himself into a sitting position.
A flash of yellow caught his attention. Jaeger turned his head, blinking at the yellow clad girl in slight confusion before putting two and two together. Well, as much as he could considering the fall he had taken. "It seems the tree doesn't like me today. I hope I didnt ruin anyting for you." He stood up fully, brushing off the dirt that clung to his red uniform before turning and giving the girl a smile.

But before she could fully take it all in, the glory of a wonderful afternoon such as this her solo scene would be quickly interrupted. First, a snapping noise. She instictively recoiled, a fear of being squashed but as she was already leaning against the tree she did not have much room to run to. Next, a loud thud, accompanied by the sight of a boy clad in red falling to the ground.
As the scene had quieted down, Paige went to survey the damages. She silently approached the kid. "Err... that's, like, quite an entrance there ta' say the least." she spoke in a terse, brisk pace, accenting the word "to" in a rather peculiar way.
However, the worry for the Red youth's well being she may have had before had been instantly replaced by suspicion, and perhaps by hints of anger. "So, like, what were you, like, doing up there in that, like, tree?" She spoke swift, a notable tone of suspicion in her voice. "Tryin' ta', like, spy on people or whatever is, like, totally uncool ya' know." Placing her right gloved hand on her hip, as if to make herself appear more intimidating.

There was sure to be a bruise somewhere on him. Jaeger rolled his shoulders back, trying to get his muscles relaxed. The fall had gotten his entire body on edge, not to mention it had jump-started him awake. His heart was slowly returning to its normal pace, which was a good thing. Though, the pain was coming on worse now. It would be a pain walking back to the dorms. Good thing was he could get out of any strenuous activity.
Oh, right! The girl! She was talking, saying something about his entrance. "Yeeaah. It's not how I planned on meeting new people." However, she was quick to accuse him of spying on people. Jaeger just blinked for a moment, his mind processing the situation.
"What? No. I was relaxing," the boy explained. "I must have fallen asleep up there. Sorry if it seemed a little suspicious, but there's no real quiet place to just hang out here. No where I could go, anyway." The discrimination against Slifer Red students were great in some areas. While there were some good people who didn't care about rank, others held on to their superiority over the Slifer students and took any chance possible to show their dominance.
Jaeger hadn't wanted to start anything, let alone have to deal with explaining the situation to anyone, and had chosen to find a neutral area that could offer him some form of relaxation. The tree provided shade and few people looked in trees for kids to bully. A win-win situation for him.

His explanation hadn't exactly sat well with the blonde haired girl. She moved her hand from her hips to going across her chest, as though she were preparing some kind of attack.
"Like, relaxin'? Up in a tree? Are you, like, some kind of deranged, like, homeless person or something? That's, like, really really weird. Don't think for, like, one second that I, like, believe that totally phony story ya're tryin' ta' pull on me."
Her face did eventually ease up though, perhaps a signal that she was merely teasing the poor boy in question. "No one, like, goes up in a tree if they can, like, sleep somewhere more comfortable like, on the grass or a nice warm bed or something." She felt as though she were getting to the core of the problem. "I mean, like, either ya' went up there because ya' were plannin' to, like, attack someone who walked past this, like, tree or something, or ya' were hanging up there because ya' were, like, scared of somethin'. Like, which is it?"
Her face did seem to show off a tiny hint of worry, but since they two were not even on a first name basis just yet, it may be in bad form to attempt to predict the other's behaviour.

Why was it so hard to believe? Trees could be comfortable, too, as long as you didn't find yourself with a branch poking you. "But it's true," Jaeger whined with a small sigh, not as upset as he made it sound. She could believe what she wanted, but at least he knew he was telling the truth.
His head cocked to the side, Jaeger listening to what she had to say next. Attack or scared of something? As far as Jaeger knew there wasn't much to be scared of at Duel Academy. Except Duncan, but that was a different story all together. In the end, he smiled at the girl. "You're obviously new here." She had to be if she didn't know that Slifers were sometimes considered the lowest of the low here.
"But, I didn't mean to fall asleep in the tree. Y'see, my roommate's pretty loud, even when he's not trying to be, and the Slifer dorms can get a bit rowdy, so I came to relax somewhere quiet. And it's better than laying in the grass, because then people can't step on me.
"Besides, some people aren't all that accepting of Slifers like me. You're lucky. You're a Ra, right smack in the middle. Slifer is at the bottom of the hierarchy here. Obelisk is at top. Sometimes some Slifers become targets for Obelisk students. Duel- and bullying-wise. So, you can also say that I chose a tree so I wouldn't have to put up with it." All this was said with a smile, Jaeger not once showing any animosity towards the higher ranked students or what some chose to do.

Our Ra Yellow gal seemed a little less the patient at the fact that he pointed out how new she was. Sure, it wasn't technically inaccurate, but it didn't mean she was any worse or anything, right? In fact, as someone new she felt she was even more awesome then those who were older and had some experience. Her own mental backflips and such to feed her fragile little ego.
However the last few words he spoke really got to her. "Hey!" she seemed offended by his comment of pointing out her rank. "I may just be like, a Ra or something but, like, that doesn't mean, like. I'm anything less then, like, the best there ever was!" She stamped her foot down, as if to further emphasize her statement.
As far as she was concerned, anyone doing anything less then complimenting her or pointing out how praiseworthy she was would be considered less then acceptable.

And then the thud came. On the other side of the tree was everyone's favorite, shirtless, bluenette, manly, Slifer Red. "REAL MEN EAT SUGAR COOKIES!" Jugan shouted as he woke up, pulling his body into an upright sitting position. Hearing people talking on the other side of the tree, Jugan looked around and grinned.
"JAEGER! MY MANLY ROOMMATE!" Jugan yelled as loudly as he could, despite the proximity. "Sorry for startling you guys. It's pretty manly to sleep in a tree sometimes, so I climbed to the very top and took a power-nap." Jugan pointed upwards, where a bed of sorts had been made of leaves and branches in the top of the tree.
"I used to go camping a lot back in Japan. You learn how to do all this kind of stuff when you have to." Jugan grinned and put on his shades and adjusted his cape/jacket. Then Jugan looked over the other girl. "... Why do I know all these people in Ra and Obelisk? So not manly..."

Jaeger blinked, drawing back from the irritated girl a bit. Obviously something he had said had gotten on the girl's nerves. He hadn't meant to do something like that. He had just been pointing out the facts. Being in Ra wasn't bad, and he hadn't been implying that she wasn't a good duelist or anything. Jaeger had been talking about the general stereotype that floated around.
"I wasn't saying anything about you not being a good duelist," the Slifer whimpered, not liking where this was going. "Just pointing out the facts, and-" Jaeger would have kept explaining, trying to keep the girl from unleashing her rage all over him, but one loud voice reached his ears. A few conflicting thoughts went through his mind at that point. While Jaeger was happy to see his friend, he had left the dorm in order to get some quiet. Granted, he wasn't getting the peace he wanted, now, either, but that wasn't the point.
"H-hey, Jugan." So much yelling going on around him lately. Two completely different kinds of yelling, but still yelling none the less. Couldn't someone get a decent nap without having to worry about shouting and falling out of trees? Something clicked in Jaeger's mind, though, and he looked over at his roommate. "Hey, Jugan, being in Ra's not a bad thing, right?"

She seemed to be getting angrier and angirer, until suddenly a loud booming voice seemed to break the tension in the air. She blinked twice at the sudden, and rather jarring turn of events. "Uhh... Like... I..." her face turned rather pink, as she realized her sense were rather lacking if she couldn't easily detect a person approaching.
For once, the loud mouthed little girl had very little to say. Until she was addressed at least. The mean spirited scowl she had shared with the Osiris had soon formed into a smile, as she began addressing the pair.
"See, he, like, called me not manly!" She said, still beaming. "Now THAT'S a compliment." She turned her sights specifically to the first Osiris student. "See, you should, like, be more polite and, like, compliment me more and stuff."
She seemed in a much more elated mood then she had when this whole experience began, perhaps hinting at how much her frail ego longer for vapid and shallow compliments of any kind. But enough about that!
Returning her attention the first boy, her face of ecstasy melting away to a more pensive gaze. "By the way Mr, like, Creepy Stalker Guy. It's pretty rude not ta', like, introduce yourself ta', like, a lady you know. Especially after you almost crush her from, like, falling out of a tree or whatever."

Jugan ignored everything but one statement the girl made. It was if she had taken a steak knife and driven deep into his brain, severing all connections between his hearing and auditory systems. "See, he, like, called me not manly! Now THAT'S a compliment." "What did you just say?" Jugan took a step closer to Jaeger and the girl. "I didn't quite catch that." Jugan cleared his throat and struck a pose, pointing straight into the air. "MANLINESS IS THE FORCE THAT DRIVES THE WORLD IN IT'S ORBIT! IT CONTROLS THE VERY ASPECTS OF LIFE AND DEATH! MANLINESS IS WHAT LETS US ALL LIVE ON! WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE THE SKILL TO DO SOMETHING, MANLINESS AND FIGHTING SPIRIT WILL PULL YOU THROUGH! IT IS THE VERY ESSENCE OF MANLINESS THAT COMPRISES CERTAIN PEOPLE LIKE CHUCK NORRIS, BELA LUGOSI, LEROY JETHRO GIBBS, AND OPTIMUS PRIME! WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, MANLINESS WILL SEE THE EARTH THROUGH AND ENSURE ITS SALVATION! WHEN YOU NEED A MANLY TREAT, YOU CAN ALWAYS TURN TO ONE OF THOSE MANLY TREATS: WATERMELON, BEEF, ASPARAGUS, PROVOLONE CHEESE, RICE, AND SUGAR COOKIES! MANLINESS HAS GIVEN US SUCH MANLY ANIMALS LIKE TIGERS, KOMODO DRAGONS, HARRIER EAGLES, RHINOCEROSES, MORAY EELS, DOGS, AND WHATEVER THE HELL THOSE WORM THINGS IN THE TREMORS MOVIES ARE! IN OTHER WORDS... MANLINESS SHOULD BE THE ZEN OF THE PLANET! EVEN THOSE OF THE FEMALE GENDER MAY BASK IN THE GLORY THAT IS BEING MANLY! ALL ONE MUST DO IS STRIVE TOWARDS AN IDEAL BIGGER THAN ONE'S SELF! THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE TRULY MANLY! IT IS THIS MOTIVATION THAT SETS OUR HEARTS ABLAZE AND LIGHTS THE DARK PATH TO TOMORROW! WE BURN THROUGH THE PAST, THE FUTURE, AND THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE TO RIP OPEN A DESTINY THAT WE CHOSE! ONE THAT WE CREATE WITH OUR OWN TWO HANDS! NO LAWS, NO SET INEVITABILITIES, AND NO HINDRANCES TO RESTRAIN OUR EVER-SPIRALING SOULS IN CREATING A TOMORROW FOR ALL OF HUMANITY TO FOLLOW!"Jugan's pointing finger became a thumbs up, and he brought his hand back down. "Have you learned the lesson I was tr- GRABOIDS! THAT'S THEIR NAME!"((Another epic speech by Jugan.))

If Jaeger hadn't been confused before, he certainly was now. Since when had he been a creepy stalker? And how did she come to that conclusion? He had been trying to relax in a tree! And it backfired on him! Horribly! Name calling and insults directed towards him never usually bothered Jaeger, but this, combined with Jugan, was almost too much for the poor Slifer to be able to handle. Almost was the keyword there.
All the student could do was stand there, blinking, and trying hard not to turn around and bash his head into the tree as Jugan went on a maniless rant. This was a heck of a speech. Whether fortunately or unfortunately, Jaeger wasn't completely sure, his mind had started to wander close to the middle of his friend's rant. In the end, it was all pretty much the same thing. Jugan had quieted down, and Jaeger's attention was starting to turn back to the two. That was, until Jugan shouted out of nowhere. Though he should have been expecting it, Jaeger still jumped.
Slightly wondering if Jugan had any sugar today, the other boy looked at the Ra Yellow girl, clearing his throat. "Ignoring the creepy stalker guy comment, my name's Jaeger. Jaeger Turrok. The other Slifer is Jugan. Dude, you have some spit on the corner of your mouth." The last comment was directed towards his friend.

While he spoke, it seemed she and the first Red student were too captivated with his rantings to even bother interrupting. The young man spoke at a length about how manliness was such an important trait, able to turn salt into gold, and eve curve death itself!
After his rather long speech, she spoke. "Asperagus is like, really gross. It, like, makes your pee smell. So uncool."
She sighed, pushing off against the tree and preparing to leave, when the first red student had finally decided to be a gentleman and introduce himself.
"Oh!" She said, slightly startled by the sudden outburt. "Alright... Jeagan and Juger..." she stated, incorrectly, swaping the last two letters of their name. She repeated the names a couple times in a faint whisper, a gloved hand pointing at each as she tried to remember who was whom. They may have been protesting the whole time, but with the way she was silently repeating their names she'd probably not have noticed if they did decide to protest.
However, she was rather annoyed the pair hadn't even attempted to take an interest in her name. Her name was much more important and entertaining then some guy spitting on himself.
"Ahem... like, by the way..." an impatient look about her as she pressed the tips of her gloved fingers to her brow. As she began her own introduction her face brightened up as she spoke about her favourite subject.
She spoke in a brisk tone, as she typically always did. "My name is, like, Paige Turner. Remember it today boys because one day, I'm gonna be, like, all over ads and magazines and signs and marquees and playboys and-" she stopped, realizing for a second just what she had just said, her face highlighting a hint of pink before a quick laugh.
"I mean, like, all over playbills and stuff. And like, if ya' two ever have kids... probably not, like, with each other or whatever... unless ya're, like, into that and adopt or somethin'; I'm not judgmental... but when ya', like, walk through Broadway or Times Square or like, whatever, and spot the huge billboa'ds for new perfume and sold out concerts at, like, Madison Square Garden and all the plays and CDs and all the other awesome stuff I'm doin' and you can, like, tell ya'r kids 'Yeah, I used to, like, go to school with her, and even then I could tell how amazing and awesome and whatever she was. I'd, like, see that Paige girl walking down the halls and be all like, ya' that girl is goin' places.'" She smiled smugly, knowing the pair would undoubtedly think the same of her.
She stretched her arms, giving a light yawn as she began walking away. Turning around once, she spoke. "Remember ya' two, Paige Turner."
