There was nothing like an evening…
The night nestled in as if it fit into life like it was natural to a concept; where there once was light, there would be darkness. It was a sad concept when thought of just like that. It would explain so many people in the world, but that was just science and physics. There was no relativity when it came much to the human heart, not to the ever lingering emotions of some people who did not think so depressive, but for those who did, it would be obvious what their eyes had seen through them.
What did the eyes of the night shift worker see? Not much actually. If anything, it was the scattered dust of the day’s work and a new pen wet as each definite stroke left a check upon each box on the paper of the clipboard. Each thing had been done according to had it should been and much more left to be done. The pillows fluffed and blankets pulled over the side of the bed railing accordingly. The room disinfected with the finest of scented fabric sprays. Today was a Sunday, so there was a lingering smell of fresh “Sakura” like a new spring.
Those blue eyes did not see darkness, they saw purest of light.
Even if pure it was a glimmer; hard to see, hard to obtain, and to minor to be sure. It was not in realistic perspective a “true” light, but simply what his heart had held onto. Through the idle days, just like this one, he would sweep and cling ever so carelessly to hope with each stroke of his hands upon the handle of a broom, and blue irises filled with the slightest of life just for the sake of seeing a tomorrow, just to see if he would finally touch that light he believed so much in.
Truly he felt that way, but he was too proud to admit it. He turned his back to the answers feeling that perhaps they were simply fabrications, mere illusions. His dearest angel he called for had sat in the same room with him, but unseen to the eyes of the young boy. Somehow, he felt it was there even though he could not describe why his being pulled as if he was being called to the “Fallen Angel” sitting upon the bed.
Their worlds never met, but they co-existed.
His chores would not finish themselves, and it was because of that, Xenenth had continued along until with the final sweep of his broom and his body bending over to take the dust pan, he had raised his wrist dumping the remnants from the open tray of the pan before finally letting a smile grace his face. Breathing in and then exhaling happily that he work was done, he had stood relaxed before snapping the dust pan in place along the handle of the broom and guiding his way towards the closet where he put away the items.
“Okay, I think I‘m done cleaning up.”
True as that may be, his eyes had glided over to the clock. It was only a quarter past five, and his shift did not end til’ nine o’clock sharp. You would never know what would happen within the next forty five minutes, and Xenneth was not one to leave up someone’s welfare to chance. Tired, but still pushing on with his eye lids slightly open, he decided to bide his time doing something else, that being he had more than enough time to contemplate that “illusion” he kept thinking of as his eyes had went towards the bed and then to his hip where his Duel Deck had sat in its case.
A thumb reach, eased, unsnapped the button as his fingers wrapped around the cards.
The night had been quite an odd one; thus far, he had spending the passive hours simply running check ups, medicines, and taking care of forms. No one would go unchecked with him about, and with the time passed, he started to take into mind the advice he had been given most recently. What did he want to do, and where was his heart taking him seeing he was so hesitant about his time here in Duel Academy.
His fingers pressed against the cards, pressing them aside to see all his monsters in a spread, but one had appealed to him mostly as he heavily stared upon it with some faint worry in heart.
“Nurse Reficule…”
His body leaning against the high examination bed he had so carefully prepared as of recent, his electric blue eyes staring at the image of the Fallen Angel, and his gentle voice giving a sound muse while his lips come together thinking about those previous days where he experienced the sound of that alluring “voice“ that called to him. The night had passed slowly by along with each thought by the minute in the half lit Infirmary with the other half lighted by the lit sunset.
Maybe…just maybe, he was not imagining things?
Music lowly lingered from the sound radio that bathed in the twilight upon the desk nestled near the window sill. Ami Suzishima, new staff member, and nurse assistant, not to mention, an undercover CSI agent for this region. She walked into the infirmary, as her shift was to begin soon. As she walked down the hall she heard a soft whisper, but was unable to make out what the whisper was saying. That must be where her new supervisor was located. She walked further down the hall and knocked softly on the door before opening it. "Hello?" She called out softly. When she was younger, she would have been less confident, and might have stuttered at this new meeting. However, within her few years after graduation, she had learned to have confidence. She'd seen more things than many her age should ever see.....the morgue definitely changed a person's attitude. "Is someone here?" It was dark within the room, and she wished she had been allowed to wear her .45 mm.....dark rooms always made her nervous.

"Hello?"
The sound made him jump, of course, he thought he was hearing those voices again. The thought of him being slightly insane kept being fresh in his mind, but he did not face it. It was only something that kept pushing the heart of him and Nurse Reficule away. However, standing a bit longer while he pocketed his deck along the slot on his right hip. His eyes had went to the dimness in the room enough to make out the silhouette amongst the twilight colors of orange and yellow that flowed because of the sunset.
"Is someone here?"
The dim darkness in once corner of the room was hard to make out, and Xenneth was very shy. If anything, he took comfort in the darkness, but hearing the sound of someone nearby, he had to shine some light as he went back to the nearby side of the room and reached flicking a switch until it became just a bit more lit’ by the artificial light. His blue irises catching the light and his head lifting slightly while he wore his fitted cap that had no longer shaded his eyes as he could behold a woman.
“Oh!” he had said in a low muse of his voice, “C-can I help you?”
He was very much surprised to see the woman. She did not look like a student, so it was most likely not for some injury, sickness, or medicine. Maybe she was coming on behalf of the Academy Staff for some report or reason. The Academy’s Head Director of the Infirmary was not in, and lord knows when he/she will ever be considering Xenneth never seen this person yet. If anything, it seemed like he himself had most supervision over the Infirmary with how much he would usually had around, and then be dismissed only to make some other infirmary head take over because of his lacking experience.
He was only a student after all.
Gazing towards the young woman, he only hoped he could take up some kind of responsibility to do business casually like an adult.

The lights flickered on and she had to wince away slightly to let her eyes readjust to lighting. "Ugh....warn someone next time!" She hissed softly. She shook her head to regain her composure and stepped forward more as he addressed her, asking if she needed any help. As she stepped forward, he might notice that she was no student. She used to be, five years ago. My how she had changed in those years.
She had grown a few more inches, and she let her hair grow a little longer. Not only had she matured mentally, but she had also grown and matured physically....as a woman should. She was wearing a dark blue, simple blouse and a long gray skirt that reached to her ankles. Her emerald green eyes seemed to glisten in the artificial light that flooded the room as she looked around.
"I am sorry to bother you, and I do hope I am in the right place." She extended her hand to him. "My name is Ami Suzishima. I have been sent here to replace your assistant, i believe? That is, if you are the head nurse here."

Xenneth had looked to her hand as she had extended it as if she was offering a handshake, complimentary to the introduction it was. Xenneth however had some sort of deep feeling that triggered a major case of genophobia to the point that a woman’s touch was something like a chemical reaction that would make his body freeze up in a very bad way if not advanced on in the right way. This was one of those “wrong” ways since he did not know this young woman, and to him, her hand was like danger.
His head tossing forward so suddenly to give a lowly bow, his eyes closing as if he had not see the young woman’s gesture, he had spoke in his usual gentle voice, “Oh! Welcome!” he had said before lifting his head and pressed his hands into his lap. “N-no, I-I‘m afraid t-that I’m not the head of the infirmary…nor have I even see him or her since I‘ve gotten this job, b-but I‘m pretty sure you‘re scheduled to be here, Ms. Ami.”
His legs moving lacking the usual grace when he was calm. First impressions meant a lot to him, so he wanted to be very reliable to at least help the woman as he quickly advanced passed her in a hurry and leaving a brief, “E-excuse me!” as he went to the distant desk where he had a checklist of chores before he would leave. The checklist full, he had only tossed the sheet at the back to see the schedule for the days to come as he could see the schedule had thus been arranged between him an a new staff member he was not familiar with.
“O-oh! Your name is here…” he had said before turning to the young woman. “I-I guess you were expected, but I‘m sorry if the Head of the Infirmary isn‘t here. I-It must be quite inconvenient for you. Sorry again.” he had said chronically apologizing. “It seems that you‘re already set to begin work here though. The staff has been short handed, a-and I‘m afraid I‘m the only one that‘s around to run the place besides substitutes.” he had advised. OOC NotesOOC Mood: Okay, I guess. Now Listening to: T-Pain ft. Ami listened to the boy's story and nodded, setting her bag on the desk. "Well, then I suppose I won't waste any time in getting started. I don't know where the head of the infirmary, so perhaps its best if i wait around here for him." She turned to face Xenneth again. At this point, she didn't know what to say. Looking over him, he didn't seem much.....she was sure she had seen much more medical experience than he.....but that didn't mean anything. She would have to be careful not to reveal that she knew more than she was supposed to, though that might happen sooner or later. But that bridge wasn't even built yet, much less crossed.
"What would you like me to do? Since at the moment, you ARE the nurse in charge.....I am here to provide assistance." She smiled warmly, a little bit of her schoolgirlish cuteness somewhere in that smile, perhaps in her eyes.

Post by Shinji Nagato on Nov 2, 2009 0:12:58 GMT -5
Shinji had walked into the infirmary. He was the new head of the infirmary, ever since some lunatic scared the previous one off. But now, he was here to take charge of this place. His trench coat on, his walk was somewhat cocky looking. He had heard about one nursing assistant who had manned this place. Then there was a new girl, supposedly of age. But he'd rather not flirt with one of his helpers.
He then entered the room, seeing Xenneth Hikari and the new girl. He then removed his trench coat, revealing a pair of boots, a pair of high quality jeans, and a button up shirt. He then looked at Xenneth, and extended a hand to him. "Greetings, I assume you're this Xenneth Hikari boy I've heard about. I'm the new doctor, Shinji Nagato." His tone was kind, as he wanted to make a good first impression on his assistants, since they would define very much.
