A young red-headed man yawned as he'd slowly gotten up. It was a little sad, really. He'd had enough money for food, but not enough money for residence? Not that it was ever a problem with him. He'd groaned a bit as he'd scratched his head, petting the tiny creature on his lap as he'd moved. He knew he shouldn't have stayed up so late the previous night... The book he was reading was too interesting to not finish, though. He was an avid reader of Dan Brown. And it was rare for him to find American novels he was interested in.
"Ne, Wiz... c'mon. Get up. We have to do your daily business." He'd picked up the white creature into his hands. Walking out of the tent and groaning a bit, he'd headed towards the bushes, letting the little white creature go onto the floor and slowly crawl towards a bush to do his morning business. The man himself was doing fine, so he'd waited for the little creature to finish before he did anything, making sure to keep a watch for anyone who might approach.

It was morning out.......Kisa had just arrived into town the previous night, and she was already awake, before the sun had even risen. She donned her regular clothing, covered by a light cloak of black cloth. This was more or less meant to keep her inconspicuous, hiding herself from the common bustle of society. It also symbolized her loss and her attempt at finding herself again.
She pulled the hood over her blue haired head and stepped out into the sunlight of the morning. She didn't know where she was supposed to look right now, but she figured she had to start with her first step. As she stepped outside of her hotel, she checked to make sure her customized Duel Disk was on her wrist, then hid it under the cloak.
She walked through the park, reading a small map she had obtained from the front lobby. She barely noticed the red-haired man looking around from behind a bush. The way his hair was tussled and his eyes just waking, she would not have recognized him for who he really was.......

Wiz picked up something. The business that it had left in the bushes was finished. But there was a scent in the air... a familiar, yet... ominous scent. Wiz quickly darted out of the bushes, wondering if it really was the person he thought it was. Disregarding his master completely, Wiz had dashed out towards a cloaked figure, taking a long bound and grasping onto the cloak with his little paws, climbing up the length of the cloak and coming to this person's shoulder, letting out a loud mew to let this person know of his presence.
The man, having noticed that Wiz left the bushes, rolled his eyes as the creature ran towards a person. He did that a lot, after all. He'd quickly tried to fix up his messed up hair and organized his outfit accordingly, looking at least half decent and not looking too much like he'd just woken up from the inside of a tent. He'd approached the person, curious as to why Wiz was mewing so urgently. "I'm sorry, my pet likes to meet new people. I didn't mean to bother you or anything."

Kisa froze as she was "attacked" by the little creature. It was small, and white, and furry......and familiar. As it perched on her shoulder, she turned to look at it with her cold eyes. "Wiz?" she whispered softly, just so the creature could hear. Her voice was soft, but it had little emotion behind it.
Then the man spoke up, and she turned her eyes to watch him. He'd cleaned up rather quickly......and the speed of his clean up was evident.....he'd missed a couple spots. Looking into his eyes, however, her eyes widened slightly. She knew him......but it had been so long......was it really him? It had to be.....only he would have this little creature following him. But she wasn't one to just jump on people anymore. No, now was the time to see how long it took for him to recognize her.
"No.....its fine." She said softly. Her soft, cold eyes watched him intently. "I don't mind him at all."

Wiz purred contently as he cuddled up against her cheek and rested against her neck, balling into a form where he could be comfortable on her shoulder. He'd mewed as Lumis approached, trying to tell his master something. However, the creature's excitement overpowered its ability to sign to his master and communicate the way they usually did. In fact, the creature was so extremely happy that he'd seemed to not know what to tell his master.
When the woman had turned around to look at him, something within him seemed to... spark. Her eyes... though they were cold and seemed to have a certain oppression placed upon them, there was also something... familiar. Not to mention Wiz's reaction to this girls appearance. He'd known Wiz to be friendly, but never before had he seemed to truly love a person. Something tugged at the man's heart strings. "I-I see... You... It..." His memories started flowing again. Memories of his time at the academy prior to Domino. When he had found someone who could free him from his oppressive and depressive past. That one person... Her blue hair... those eyes... there could only be one person... He'd seemed to almost be speechless as the pieces matched up, but at the same time, there was something... wrong.
"We... couldn't have met before, could we...? Ki-..." His words stopped. It had been so long since he could utter her name. The sound seemed to be stuck in his throat. What was stopping him from bringing her into the embrace that he had so dearly searched for her in all these years...?

Just as she'd expected from him......he'd recognized her right away. Even with the cloak and hood covering her person. She almost winced when he started to say her name and then stopped. It had been a while since anyone had said her name......and he seemed very reluctant to say it. She decided not to keep the so-called-chase going on.
"Lumis......." Her voice almost cracked as the name hit her tongue. "It's been a long time.....hasn't it?" She reached her arms up and removed the hood, letting her long blue hair play over her shoulders. She stroked Wiz's head lightly with a fingertip before letting her hands fall to her sides again.

"Kisa... It's you...! I've been looking for you for years...!" Lumis had slowly taken his steps towards her, seeming to not be able to balance from the happiness, the shock, and the love all at the same time. He had no idea what to do. No idea what to say. All he could really do was... remain speechless. He'd lost contact with her when she'd gone to Egypt. Of course he was worried about her. But after all these years... no letters... no e-mails... nothing... "Where have you been...?"
Wiz, seeming to understand his master's confusion, looked up at Kisa curiously as well. He'd given her a small lick with his tiny tongue on the cheek. He'd mewed gently and licked her ear, Wiz was so lost. Being as old as he was, though, he naturally had an idea of what was happening. He'd just continued to purr and nuzzle against Kisa, hoping things would be okay.

When he took a step towards her, she stepped backwards a step. It wasn't that she didn't want his embrace....his touch.....his gentle kiss......no....a big part of her wanted all that so bad. But the hole of darkness in her heart and mind had created a barrier that she could not cross. Only when that darkness was filled would she be able to have happiness......right now, anything she would do, any touch she would give, would all be empty. She did not want to hurt him. Surely he would feel it right away. She just hoped he would understand.......Of course he wouldn't......he had no way of knowing what happened to her......hell, she didn't even know what happened to herself.
"You look great," she tried to smile, but again, it was empty, not exactly her warmest smile. "It's good to see you after so long." Kisa was finding it hard to find words to say......she wasn't used to talking much anymore.

Something had, once again, tugged at the threads of his heart. Something wasn't right... something happened to her. He could feel the pain at the depths of his heart, but he couldn't figure it out... She seemed so... empty. Like some sort of disaster had befallen her. He'd wanted to take another step forwards... He wanted to take another step towards her... But he had a sinking feeling that he knew what the result of that would be. He'd stopped walking towards her and stood there, hands at his sides. He wanted to ask her so many things... but he didn't know what to ask. "Ehe. I suppose I look great for someone who travels around and lives in a tent. And you..."
He'd trailed off. It was almost as if he'd had no idea what to say. He was about to continue with "... look beautiful. More beautiful than I remember." However, he'd felt, for some reason, that didn't fit in this situation. It wasn't that her beauty hadn't grown. It was more that she'd lost a certain... luster. The determination that he could so clearly remember. The emotion. The love... it was gone. And he had no idea how or why... "... look like a million dollars. I take it the archaeology stuff is working well for you?"

She felt his hesitation and closed her eyes lightly. He asked about her career, archaeology.....obviously trying to keep the conversation up. She could tell he was uncomfortable. "Its......" she paused for a moment and thought back to her last memory before total blackness. The wall caving in.....the sarcophagus in the center of an ancient tomb.....the heiroglyphs on the wall...the hand that grabbed her.....and then......next thing she knew she was waking up in a hospital two years later with her team surrounding her. When she dueled one of them, she noticed her deck had drastically changed. Where were her original cards? Her Destiny Heroes? Where had these dark cards that now dominated her deck come from? She felt their power, every time she dueled......it wasn't natural. It was as if the power of the shadows fueled the power of the cards. She feared dueling.....the power seemed to choke her every time she dueled, and even her Blue-Eyes White Dragons seemed as if they were being held back.....held back by chains of darkness. In fact, she swore the last time she summoned one, she had seen a chain around its foot. Her opponent had seen nothing, nothing but the lightning strike caused by her signature monster.
"It's had its ups and downs," she spoke finally. She looked at the rising sun and saw that its light was starting to break through the trees. "Can we.....go somewhere else? Somewhere.....shaded?" That was another strange new quirk of hers. She felt utterly strange in sunlight. Being within shadows always kept her calm and at peace.....however small that peace was.

Lumis wondered why she'd wanted to stand in the shade, but decided not to question it. "Of course we can. Follow me." It seemed like she'd been through a lot of things... a lot of pain. Just looking into her eyes, he could feel the emptiness within her. Something big had happened... something that had shaken her to the core. He had no idea what it was and no idea who had done it, if people were involved in the first place. Following her request, he'd motioned for her to follow him and he'd promptly taken a seat under a nearby tree, inviting her to join him. He'd given a small, brief sigh as he'd laid his head against the trunk of the tree.
"Ups and downs, huh? I suppose that's good, in a sense. Better than my dead-end job. The expenses are barely covered by the income. I have hardly any extra money for myself, y'know?" Lumis watched Kisa from his spot in the shade after he'd said that. There was no chance in hell he would be able to take her eyes off of her, for all of two reasons. First of all was the fact that she was overly beautiful. The years had done good for her as she'd seemed to have a more elegant, beautiful look now. However, the second reason wasn't as pleasant, though.
Her aura had changed dramatically from the strong, proud Kisa he had known back when they were in school together. There was a looming sense of depression that surrounded her. Something had clearly gripped her heart and wasn't letting go... He wanted so badly to help her. But there was something keeping him from truly approaching her. It was almost like she was distancing herself on purpose. He had to figure out why...

Kisa reached into a small pouch on her hip and pulled out a small wad of cash and handed it to Lumis. "My most recent discovery led to quite a payoff.......this is just a small bit of what I have now.....it should take care of your bills for a while." In the wad were a hundred $100 bills, and she pressed it against his hand and removed her hand quickly, leaving the wad there.
She sat down beside him, but not too close to him. She could sense his eyes watching her, and she thought she knew why. She pushed the thought from her mind and reached up to pet Wiz once more. "You look good, you really do. You must tell me all that has happened in the past 5 years since we parted ways. I want to hear everything." She spoke with softness and with interest. But that was all the emotion she could muster. She hated that she was like this.....had been for well over a year now. She wanted to get to her search.....but she always had time for a friend, especially for Lumis.

Lumis watched Kisa as she'd approached him, noting the item she'd been taking out of her pocket. She'd promptly forced it into his hand and he'd had the feeling that objecting to it would be pointless. She'd just given him a wad of cash. "Well, did I say that I couldn't support myself? I'm grateful, though, Kisa. Really, I am." In truth, he didn't want to accept the money. Not only because if made him feel a little emasculated, but because he felt that he was doing fine to this point. However, he'd remembered how stubborn she was and quietly pocketed the money, sighing a bit in resignation.
"Well, there hasn't been much. After we parted, I graduated here at Domino Academy. Then, from there, I've just been wandering around place to place, continuing my research on Ancient Technology and looking for y-" He'd cut himself off as he'd tried to find the words to replace what he was going to say. You. At least, that's what he was supposed to say, right? What would be the trouble with that? Maybe that's why she was distancing herself, though. Maybe she'd wanted space. However, his emotions quickly dismissed all of that.
"You. I've been looking for you, Kisa. We lost contact after all. I got worried. What happened to you? I haven't spoken to you in all these years, after all." He could only wonder at what could possibly cut their connection. Of course he was questioning her. If he didn't confront her about this now, he would only wonder when he'd get the answer from her. Or if he'd even get it at all.
Wiz rested comfortably on Kisa's shoulder, enjoying the petting thoroughly. He'd purred lightly and nuzzled into the hand that pet him. However, even with all of this petting and getting comfortable, there was still that odd sensation that he got from her. Hopefully, it was only his imagination. It's not like Kisa was a completely different person, right?

Kisa looked ahead, seemingly in a blank stare as Lumis finally asked what had happened to her. "In truth, I do not even know, myself," she said softly. "When we parted ways after graduation, I left for Egypt, as you know. I met my team there and we began searching a group of lost caves deep in the underground of one of the pyramids. We had reason to believe that we might find something in these caves, and we ended up being right.
"We dug our way to the end of one cave, and just when we were about to give up on finding anything in that cave, the final wall caved in, revealing an ancient chamber.....never before discovered until that moment. We of course became excited, and entered. Inside was a jade sarcophagus, and the walls were filled with ancient hieroglyphs. But there was a problem.......
"There was a dark presence there.....an evil presence. My team left, but I remained......i was too curious." She looked down and stopped petting Wiz, letting her hands fall into her lap. "I felt as if I was grabbed by something......and i blacked out. That is my last memory of that time." She sighed and looked up once more, this time looking at Lumis.
"I woke up from a coma......in a local hospital.....two years had passed." She paused to read his reactions to this, knowing full well he was going to be worried to say the least. "I have no recollection of anything during those two years.......but i felt as if I was a completely different person. I feel cold......empty.......I know i didn't used to be that way. But I don't know what happened to me in those two years of darkness that made me change." She lifted her dueling arm, letting the cloak fall off her arm to reveal the custom-made Blue-Eyes disk which accented her features.
"Even my deck has changed. I used to run Destiny Heroes with my Blue-Eyes White Dragons.......but when i dueled after waking, I found that everything had changed, except for my three Blue-Eyes cards........" She pulled out the deck and drew a card. Van'Dalgyon. She drew another card. Dark Horus. Yet another card. Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. One last card. Red-Eyes Wyvern. There were other cards in the deck that frightened her, but these were what were on top. She showed the four cards she had just drawn to Lumis. "I have no idea where these cards came from.....I would never run these cards." She put the cards back and shuffled, then drew once more. Blue-Eyes White Dragon......one of the three that had been specially made for her by Pegasus himself.
"When I duel.....the darkness of the deck chokes me. I feel what my cards feel in battle. I feel pain every time my life points drop." She shook her head. "I have grown used to the pain.....it does not bother me anymore. But even my Blue-Eyes is held back by chains of darkness......though none of my opponents have ever seen it, I see the chains binding my poor, beloved Blue-Eyes White Dragons......When these dragons of darkness appear, they seem to overpower me......they seem to take control. They laugh with an evil laugh........of course, again, i am the only one who can notice it." She put the card back and placed the deck back in its slot, hiding her disk once more underneath her cloak.
"I can't be in sunlight......i feel a weird sensation when I enter it. That's why I wear this cloak." She looked to him once more with her cold blue eyes. "I found my way here.....hoping to find something that might help me find out what happened to me. I want to know......" placing a hand over her heart, she continued. "I feel a gaping hole here.......i am missing something here.......I have never felt so alone....so cold......" She let her hand fall once more and looked at a tree far away. "Nightmares haunt me at night, though i have grown used to them as well. Darkness stirs around me, and I can't escape it. i don't know where it came from, nor why it has chosen to torment me."

Lumis listened to the story, slightly overwhelmed. She was in a coma for two years...? That might have explained the lack of communication. But what had happened in the hidden room? Mythology wasn't his strongest point, so he couldn't be sure. A jade sarcophagus... probably one of the most odd things he'd heard before. Well, not odd, but certainly rare. Most kinds had been held in marble or gold, even. But jade? In Egypt, that had to have been an oddity...
And then, there was the matter that something had taken grip of her...? An ancient spirit, probably. According to ancient technology, it was powered by a certain, mysterious power that had all but run out and no longer existed in the present world. Lumis hadn't known the area around where the Egypt resided to hold any great significance to ancient technology, but the jade definitely caught his attention. It was used as a healing charm in China, meant to be used as a magical source to heal wounds and to tend to the owner of said charm. A whole sarcophagus might have meant that this was a knowledgeable pharaoh. And that he'd done much trade in the Far East during this time.
However, the thoughts roaming through Lumis' mind was purely that of the old technologies of the Earth. He had no idea of the spirit that had gripped Kisa and knocked her out for a whole two years. He had no idea what could have possibly do that. If she'd stumbled upon an ancient energy source, that might have been the case, her exposure possibly causing enough harm to her body to cause her to fall into a coma in order to regenerate damaged cells.
But that didn't explain what happened with her deck. He'd noted each of the cards as he saw them. He remembered the night that they spent, building their decks. That was when he'd picked up his Ancient Gear Deck... No. Enough reminiscing. There were more important things on hand. Her deck had been filled with Dark Dragons. With the obvious exception of Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes Wyvern. But how did this all connect...? Lumis was starting to lose himself.
"Whenever you duel, huh...? Pain...? Kisa..." It was obvious by the tone of his voice that he was worried about her. Moving closer to her from his side on the tree trunk, he'd placed his hand on hers, as if trying to establish the same connection they'd held years ago. He'd looked at her with definite worry in his eyes. She felt pain whenever she'd dueled... and dueling was what she'd loved most... It was far too sad for him to not care. "I'll figure this out... No... We'll figure this out. I'm going to help you with this. Maybe my own research plays a part in this."
And that was when she'd mentioned the problem of not being able to be in the sunlight without her cloak. That explained why she was wearing it, other than the fact that it was already the middle of Autumn... But, besides that, It also seemed like she was... hiding behind the cloak. She was afraid of something. And this fear, along with whatever she was afraid of, seemed to be taking over her. "Kisa... I can't imagine the pain you have gone through... And all on your own as well. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I hadn't helped you now." He'd chuckled a bit nervously as he'd scratched the back of his head, embarrassed that he'd even thought of saying the next thing, but... "Besides, I don't think we've officially even broken up yet. As your boyfriend, I won't leave you alone to this either. I want to help you get through this. Let me in, Kisa."
