Camilla sighed a heavy sigh, as she often did these days.
The night was dark as one could expect at the wee hours of the night. Only a few lights were still on, giving all of the academy a sort of dark and eerie feel. A light fog crept over the massive estate on which the school stood, limiting visibility and only adding to the eeriness. Even though it hadn't rained lately, there was a slight dew on the tips of the grass, making ones shoes slightly wet as they treaded across it.
It was late in the year, the leaves had started to fall from the trees. If it had been day, beautiful hues of gold, red and brown could be seen throughout the landscape... but right now, the trees were all just strange shadowy figures off in the distance.
Camilla retrieved her lighter from her pocket, flipping the top off of it and striking the flint against the steel with a single motion, a flame erupting from it's metal confines. The light from the flame was the only thing keeping Camilla from being completely hidden on one of the many roofs of the academy.
She was sitting on the shingled roof above the Obelisk dorm... she had always liked this roof. Being on it gave her a feeling of well-being... and even the roof above it felt higher-quality than the other dorms. From here she could see a good amount of the academy... at least, the bits that were illuminated. Figures moved around in well-lit windows, the last of the few night owls that hadn't yet hit the hay. Even as each one of them closed down for the night, there was always one or two that always stayed up... she disliked those few windows, they made her life harder.
Camilla brought the flame to the ready-and-waiting cigarette at her mouth, pulling in the first drag and flipping the lid closed over the flame once more. She knew it was a bad habit... but it relieved stress, and that's what she was into these days. Stress relief. Everything she did was for herself, either for entertainment, or to ease some of the tension. Tonight was no exception, and she had something big planned for tonight.
She pulled a second hit of delicious cigarette smoke into her lungs. There were benefits to being a pickpocket and a shoplifter... one could get the best without worrying about price. Even these cigarettes were some of the best. They tasted good, and didn't rape her lungs and throat like so many others.
The faint light from the lit cigarette was barely visible against the inky blackness of the night. It was highly unlikely that she would be seen... nor did she care. There were too many nooks, crannies and hidey holes for even her to count, so running away wasn't an issue at all... but tonight, she would be doing a more ballsy than usual stunt.
After a few minutes of sitting, resting, enjoying the scenery and the rest of the cigarette, Camilla got to her feet. She was clad almost entirely in black, the color that would best help her camouflage into the darkness of night. She walked towards the edge of the roof, laid down upon it, and peered over the edge with just her head. Looks like the window right underneath her was dark, and the owner of the room asleep. Looks like it was time to act.
There was only three Obelisk girls this year... it was a good place to start, as hitting Slifer would be much harder given the number of students. First was Mesmere's room, the room right below her... she was alone, so she would be easier to sneak past. She wanted to save the best for last.
She pushed from the roof with her legs, her hands holding the edge of the roof and pivoting her against the window, her feet landing against the windowsill and keeping her steady just in front of the window. With a swift motion she reached for her knife, gently pushing it into the crack between wall and window and released the lock, pushing the knife back into it's holster and gently sliding the window open. Temperature was a big deal at this time of the year, so as soon as she was inside, she closed the window behind her, wouldn't want to wake her target with a cold breeze.
She looked towards the bed... only to not see it's proper resident. So... she wasn't here. That wasn't as fun... but it did make her job easier. She wandered around the room until, taking in it's sheer commonness... why the hell did an Obelisk have a room like this? She could have all of the lavish and pointlessly extravagant things she wanted, and yet she lived like this? Strange.
Either way, she moved to the girl's dresser, and pulled open the top drawer... and there they were. Many many pairs of panties... and damn, she had good taste. They were one of the only things she had found that actually seemed to have a bit of expense in them.... all the better.
She scooped them all up, pair by pair, into a big black sac that she had over her shoulder. She rifled through the entire dresser, making sure that no single pair of panties would be left there for Mesmere's use... every single one would be hers.
After she was satisfied with her haul, and only after snooping around for a while and coming up empty (much to her dismay) she moved back towards the window, opened it, and tossed the bag onto the roof. She quickly followed it, closing the window behind her, and leaving behind any trace of her passage. Only the missing panties would tell that she had ever been there at all.
Next was Airi and Cirno's room... there were two in there, so it was double the risk... but double the reward. She crept across the rooftop until she was above the needed window, and flipped over the edge as she had done at the last one, sliding her knife into the lock and gently pushing both it and the window open.
She stepped inside, looked around, and liked what she saw... things were a lot more elegant here. She may even be able to grab a bit of money in this room... all the better. She could use a few bucks anyways, and these guys surely wouldn't miss a bill or two.
She, even from here, could see the slumbering Cirno and Airi. She didn't want to wake them... she was completely silent. She didn't want to risk snooping around too long... she needed to get in and get out, so she headed immediately for the dresser.
