Shizuma blinked as Hathor removed her head from his shoulder. It seemed she had other friends around the lsland already. Not too surprising considering how great she was to be around. As he sat there he kept an eye on both Hathor and this Obelisk person. He was surprised to see an Obelisk around at this point and not wanting to trounce a Slifer. Perhaps he had an interest in Hathor as well...

"But why did you want to see little old me hun? I can't be that interesting can I?"
Oooh zowie wowie....! If there was one thing that could make David spontaneously melt into a puddle of warm bashful goo, then it was definitely a sexy look like that from Hathor. He couldn't help but feel a delicious little shiver run up and down his spine when the dark-skinned beauty batted her eyes at him, a wide and dazed grin appearing on his face as his eyes turned into throbbing pink hearts. Egads, those eyes! Those beautiful, cunning, and deeply black eyes! Those eyes that never failed to hypnotize any man they gazed on....on....
Hey, wait a second. Weren't Hathor's eyes amber when they had first met? And for that matter, how come she was acting so sly and coy now when she had been so damn cold to him on the day they had met? David was no stranger to women not being that fond of him, but Hathor's shoulder on that day was so cold it was practically a glacier! And yet.... Now....
Something strange was definitely going on here.
After finally managing to beat back his own attraction for the girl, David seemed to narrow his eyes slightly and took a closer look upon her. "Well...Actually, I was wondering if you could help me with something. I've been trying to do a research paper on the tablet that used to be in the Domino City Museum, but I can't seem to find out anything more about it that I don't already know. And since it was destroyed... Well, it's not like I can go and see for it myself." he paused to let the words sink in. It was almost like he was expecting a special reaction out of Hathor for mentioning the ancient Tablet. "I was hoping that since your mother used to head the exhibit that you'd be willing to share whatever information you've got about it."
He made it seem that he was trying hard to regain his composure after overcoming his own "fatal" attraction for the girl, but in reality, he was looking for... something. He didn't quite know what it was yet, but there was just something that was off about Hathor right now. He could feel it. And so could the duel spirits near him.

"Only that it's a ten thousand year old object according to the tests that were run on it. It was a tablet that described a legend about the elements of the world and how they warred with each other." She had to keep as casual as possible with this, for she could not let herself be given away. "My mother was very drawn by that tablet. It's a shame that it was destroyed. It's a real shame... according to the legend, the tablet not only told the story but kept the demons at bay... kept them in there. If that legend was true, I wonder how that would be for us." She asked. The woman put on a nice smile to her face.
But she had to get the spotlight off of herself and fast. So she found herself turning to Shizuma and asking him as such, "So hun, what do you think? Can those legends come true?" She asked him. "I mean, haven't they in the past?"

"Well, let's see...they do say that every legend has a bit of truth behind them. The question is...if there is truth behind this one...how much truth to it is there? Is it just an old ghost story could something like what was on that tablet really happen?" said Shizuma as he looked at Hathor and then at the Obelisk kid.
Was she really so interested in Shadow Magic and stuff that she would be this curious as to see what would happen? And what of the Obelisk...what interest did he have in this?

The more David looked upon the Hathor, the more sure he became that something was extremely wrong with this picture. Granted, he had only met Hathor once and that had been a few days ago. But if there was one thing that David could never forget, then it was the color of a pretty lady's eyes. Hathor's had been a vibrant amber on the day when he had first met her. But now they were a pitch-black. And as he focused his gaze upon the girl even more, he thought that he could detect a hazy black aura that flickered like smoke around her body. It was faint and hard to see with his spiritual senses, but it was definitely there.
And even if he hadn't been able to see it... There was something in the air around them all that made his skin tingle and the spirits around him quite restless. He knew this feeling, recognized it immediately. Whatever was going on or inside of Hathor carried the same powerful aura as one of the others that David had encountered back at the Domino Museum's Tablet Exhibit. Whatever had left its mark back there had now done the same to Hathor. And David was now determined to find out exactly what it was.
His gaze flickered between "Hathor" and the Slifer male who she lounged so comfortably against. What he was about to do now was tricky, but it was the best idea that he could come up with right now. "Drat... Well, that's too bad." David began while acting with a look of disappointment. "I was hoping to learn something interesting that I could use as thesis for my paper. But now I'll just have to use this other idea about the balance between the Attributes and such." He paused again to let his words sink in to those who listened, but also to add some emphasis to what he was about to say next. "You know what I mean, right?" he added with some extra emphasis to the "whatever it was" that Hathor was harboring. "Wind is beaten by Fire, Fire is beaten by Water, Water by Earth, and then Earth by Wind. The same also holds true for the Light and Dark elements, but it seems to me that Light is superior to Dark just about every time."
Now to see what kind of a reaction he'd get out of Hathor. If it really was Hathor in there...

"I'm not sure where you came up with that. The legend says that they're equal and they're trying to fight for superiority." For Farfarello to be beaten by light... riddiculous. Alichino was nothing but a shotacon and a riddiculous one at that. She was a lot like the stereotype of priests with little boys. She loved having a harem of them around her... where Farfarello was far more mature about such things. She crossed over Hathor's leg over the other and her black eyes gazed deeply at David.
"Think of it as a negating effect. They are all at the same power level, except that the Divine is a touch stronger then the rest in the legend. But then again, Divine does not have enough forces to combat within the legend and thus that is where his power weakens. The problem during the legend was that the elements fought by using others to fight for them, however had basically the same amount of armies, and to boot they had humans to interfere with their plans."
Farfarello herself could remember her own defeat... however it was a story that she did not wish to recount, even within her own mind.

"I wouldn't doubt it...that's how it is in most legends. If the Demons were causing war then why wouldn't humans rise up to stop them. It's just how good people are. And if I were to put it into my opinion then this stalemate would just create more and more casualties. Balance between all elements is what makes this world the way it is...and the dominance of one over another would create a chaotic imbalance. Hence why it would make sense that each Demon was around the same power with some weaknesses. However, them using other people to battle their own argument more than likely put many innocent lives into danger...hence why people rose to end the conflict...and seal them away. But then again this is just a legend...unless this is the truth behind it, it would only be just me trying to figure out the legend now that the Tablet is gone. Which is sad because I really wanted to study it for Shadow Science class." said Shizuma as he looked at both the Obelisk and Hathor.

It was then that David allowed a cold smile to come to his face. "Oh really?" he began somewhat offhandedly, his hands settling into the deep front pockets of his Obelisk jacket. He looked at Hathor with a very uncharacteristic fierceness in his icy blue eyes. "Ya know... For someone who said that they don't know all that much about the tablet.... You sure seem to know an awful lot about the legend that was written on it. It's almost like you were there living it." he said with a pause for dramatic effect. "Now tell me something.... How did you know that the Divine Attribute's mortal forces were smaller than the others' when it wasn't even written on the tablet to begin with? Or even the fact that the Attributes even used mortals in the first place when no mention of it was made in the tablet?"
The implication David was making seemed obvious enough now. As he continued to look at Hathor, or rather at the spirit that he now knew was possessing her body, the cold smile on David's face turned into an even colder frown and a strange presence started to radiate from his own body. It was a kind of pressure that saturated the air around him, making it heavier and shimmer slightly to the eyes of those who could see spirits. It was as if the eyes of more than one were upon Hathor. And they were not at all happy to see her.
Like the saying went in old comic books... The jig was up.
"Why don't you cut the act and tell us who you really are, spirit?" David glowered at the presence possessing Hathor. "And while you're at it... I'd love it if you would vacate Hathor's body. I'm sure her boyfriend would like that, too. Isn't that right, Mr. Boyfriend?" he finished while tossing a glance to boy sitting beside Hathor.

"What the heck are you talking about?" said Shizuma as he stood up and glared at the Obelisk boy.
What in the world was he talking about? Why was this going on? What was this guy saying? It was very odd and wierd. She couldn't have something more to do with tablet did she? He then turned to Hathor and looked at her and at the Obelisk...what in the world was going on?

Duelist Legacies OST: Flip the Chessboard
"That's no way to treat a lady. No need to go off your rocker on me honey... I mean, the thought of it seems kind of paranoid don't you think?" The spirit raised her fingers and snapped them, pointing at David casually.
"Let's flip the chessboard."
Flip the chessboard... look at it from your opponent's point of view. She was often the black pieces within a chess game and she was the King in a sense. However, troops could not go into battle if their king did not support them. So she was a brilliant tactician. Farfarello smiled sweetly, Hathor's smile of all things, and Hathor's demeanor.
"Your sudden interest in the tablet is a little bit concerning. The tablet shatters and soon after, you of all people know immediately who I am. The daughter of the archaeologist who unearthed it. You seem to want to know an awful lot about it, and are fully willing to pin blame on me... unless... and here's where the chessboard flips."
She looked at him closely. "I can only imagine why you would want to do it. The tablet breaks, and suddenly you're in town? I've never seen you before this point honey. Maybe you want to know what I know about the legend so that you can disguise the fact that you were the culprit to break such a precious treasure to history in a vile attempt to hold up a meaningless legend?"
She snapped her fingers. "Let's flip the chessboard again David. Assume that I'm one of these monsters for a moment. If I were, my first goal would be to take you out swiftly and silently. Why? Because you've been questioning my 'host'," and at this, she did quotation marks with her fingers, "too closely about my 'going-ons'." The demon could absolutely believe that she was saying this next part. "The demons were ruthless. They held no regard for human life. If I'm that, why aren't you dead? You met me on a bad day of the week and annoyed me a little with your obvious lusting. If I've already taken over 'my host', then why haven't I killed you yet? Or my boyfriend for that matter?" She decided not to correct David on that point. She was too busy having fun.
A snap. "Flip again. You are one of the spirits and you are accusing me. Why? Because that keeps you in the dark. As long as there is accusation and chaos amongst the human kind, you can create your own army to 'fight the demons'. You know who they are and who they've possessed and you think that if you can accuse some and help to protect others, you can make your own army to combat the other spirits."
She snapped her fingers once more. "Either way, looking at your field, I see coverup, paranoia or foolishness. In fact... with that sort of behaviour, I'm not sure whether I should trust you or not... or whether my boyfriend should either." Farfarello finished.

For a moment, David only stared at the spirit possessing Hathor in cold silence. It was almost like he had turned into a statue. An icy, looming, and accusing statue. He seemed like he was about to venomously rebuke every word that the spirit had said... But then, the corners of his lips upturned into a smile and he chuckled ever so softly. "You know what you're problem is?" he asked the spirit in almost whimsical tone. "You're making this sound waaaaay too complicated. I'm just a simple guy who likes the simple things." he finished with a hint of a smirk.
"So let's say you're right... What if I am the one who snuck into museum at the dead of night to smash the tablet? Hm? Hypothetically... I snuck in and broke the tablet without anyone seeing me enter or leave. Hell, the cameras guarding the tablet didn't even see who did it. But here's what you're missing...." the Obelisk stated with another fierce glint in his eyes. "If I really am the one who snuck in and broke the tablet, then why would I risk myself getting caught when I'm already in the clear? Why would I bother popping up at Duel Academy and trying to shine the light away from me when it was never on me to begin with?"
He paused again to take a breath, but mostly for dramatic effect as well. He also took a few steps closers towards where Hathor was sitting, his form outlined in shadow and looming over her. He knew it wouldn't do a thing to scare the spirit, but it was mostly for his own enjoyment. He just felt so damn cool playing detective like this. "And secondly... If I did break the tablet... then wouldn't that mean that I would already know all there is to know about it? I would think that any self-respecting saboteur would find out as much as possible before breaking a potentially dangerous artifact of mysterious power. Especially regarding the consequences behind doing so."
He paused again to let his words sink in. "So when you think about it there's no reason for me to be asking anything if I was somehow involved in the wrong way. I could just sit back and watch the authorities run around like chickens with their heads cut off."
Oh, but David wasn't done yet. Far from it, actually. He had only just begun to expose the holes in the spirit's logic and his smile proved that he was relishing the challenge. "And like you said... The chessboard flips again. Now what if we say that you actually are the spirit that I'm accusing you of being. Why don't you kill me? Why don't you kill me in a most hideous way right where I stand? I think I know the answer to that." he said with another fierce glint lighting in his eyes. "I don't think it's in your nature. It's too direct. Too boring. Not only that, but it'd also raise too many questions. Mr. Boyfriend would become a witness if you got me here and now, and that means you'd have no choice but to do away with him too. And that would definitely raise a fuss. One student might be a coincidence, but two of them mysteriously vanishing at the same time during your company would be too much to ignore. And you're trying to avoid too much attention." He allowed his smile to grow a hair wider before he continued. "So instead you're trying to make me look like the evil villain trying to pass blame onto you... The innocent damsel who can do no wrong. Just a desperate attempt to play the Blame Game."
A silence hung over the air as David's words reached the others' ears, a cerebral look in his eyes and a smirk upon his lips. "And the chessboard flips once more... Now let's say that I'm one of the spirits that was trapped inside of the tablet and that I'm trying to make you look the enemy." he told them both with a sly tone. "I'll ask the same question I did before. Why? Why would I need to do something like that when I shouldn't be in any danger to begin with? All I would have to do is to keep a low profile and not get caught with whatever it is I'm doing. And yet you say that I'm just coming out of the blue to accuse you, and therefore risking my own cover. Seems a bit convoluted now, huh?" he continued with another small pause before leaning in a bit closer to towards the spirit.
And then... It was finally David's turn to turn the tables on the spirit. And hopefully, it would be the final time. "So it really only comes down to this. I just have less to lose than you do. The reason that I'm asking all of these questions and making this accusation is because I'm trying to do something about the consequences of the tablet being broken. Call me one of those "human meddlers" you mentioned earlier." he said again in that whimsical tone of his. "And that last bit, in turn, comes down to one of two things. Either I'm wrong about you and you're not a spirit that's possessing Hathor... Or I'm right and I see you for what you really are. And given the fact that you're behaving so oddly now... The black eyes you've now got, the ploy to turn the tables on me, the smell of your aura... I'm pretty confident about where I stand in this."
And with that, David simply shrugged his shoulders and closed his eyes briefly. "But even if there's a chance that I'm wrong about all this... There's still one other way that'll surely either prove or disprove that you're a spirit in possession of Hathor."

She smiled. "No, no my dear, you're the one making this too complicated." She was fully willing to play the game with him until she was stopped. She leaned forward and put her head in one of her hands, with her elbow resting on her knee. She was looking up at David with a bit of a bemused expression. Did he really think he had the right to come in and accuse people? Come now.
"If it's you, I know the perfect reason. Yes you've already done it but with the multitude of duelists, the 'spirits' would most likely come to this school. You may be coming to observe them, or even communicate with one of the students. Besides..." and with this she shrugged lightly, "I know nothing about you. You're the one who seems to know everything about me. You've got quite the little knowledge about me don't you? The daughter of the one who found the tablet and apparently I'm a spirit as well? My my... David I think you're following me if you know so much about me. And while I'm sweetly honoured, I have to say that it's just a little creepy." With this she made a little gap between her long brown fingers and looked through them with one black eye. Then she flourished her hand back down to her lap.
"If you did break the tablet, you want to know how much I know about it, so that you know whether to take me out or not. With the accusation of me being a spirit as you say, you could pit this man beside me against me and thus take me out and silence me. Discredit my words and you silence me. Turn the school against me and you silence me. I go to the police and I'm viewed as a simpleton." She clasped her hands in front of her and rested her chin upon them.
"Why don't I kill you if I'm the spirit? If you irritate me enough- which believe me dear, being accused of being supposedly evil is putting a damper on my spirits- I could. Why have an eye-witness when I could kill him too if I'm the spirit? In fact, if I'm the spirit, then that means I probably have powers and could take you over in an instant, and pit the both of you against each other. If I'm the spirit, I make you duel one another, instigating a shadow duel. You take one out, I kill the other. It's plainly simple... in theory of course. After all, I'm not the villain in this piece. You are the antagonist and the instigator of this debate, not I." However her speech was starting to minutely betray her. Though David and Shizuma wouldn't know it, Hathor wouldn't have spoken in a tone like this unless she were terribly angry.
"You don't risk your own cover because within your accusations of me, if I make a stumble then you can use that stumble to frame me. Should I back away your response would be to move forward. Isolate one set of people and keep the other set- become the hero. Rescue him, isolate me, have me locked away by the Shadow Sciences teacher for suspicion and you're in the clear with one accused. After all, if it works, would they really suspect you? I think not."
She tilted her head to the side and chuckled. "You do know I have amber contacts, right? I use them when I feel bored or when I feel the need to cosplay. If you looked closely at my eyes before, they looked almost as if they were cat's eyes. Wouldn't that be more unnatural then black eyes? A lot of people my skin colour have dark brown eyes. Are you being racist David? I'm afraid I don't tolerate intolerance." She said as she gave a glower, but this was merely one of a woman scorned. "Intolerance of race is not forgiveable... as for your smell of aura, I have no idea of what you're talking about. For all I know, it's paranoia because I look black." She said with a touch of acid in her tone... not unjustified, considering what she was saying.
"What exactly would be this way? Not that I'll necessarily indulge you because I think that accusing me of being some evil spirit is paranoid and full of shit. By the way, Divine's power? Go look up mythology, those with divine power tend to reign over the rest. It's a theory that the divine one had more power but less beings, based off of the simple fact that we have only three monster cards of Divine beings... not even the Wicked Gods can truly count."

Shizuma listened to all of this and then decided to simply come out and tell both of them wondering what the hell was going on? First he seems friendly now he's accusing her of being a demon...what the hell was this?!
"Okay, guy I got to agree with her, what the hell man?"

David almost laughed out loud when he heard the spirit's next words. "Really, spirit? Playing the race card, are we? That's just weak." the Obelisk replied in a semi-disappointed tone. "I expected something better from someone like you." he added in the same tone. For as controversial and as logical as her words might've sounded to anyone else, they seemed like nothing more than a quick fix to a growing problem in David's ears. They could play this came of verbal "Cat and Mouse" all night and day and still get nowhere, but the fact remained that the spirit had already betrayed herself. Even if David was the only one to catch it right now...
For one thing, during the whole course of their arguing, "Hathor" had never once just come out and said that she wasn't a spirit. Just saying that she wasn't and skipping on the drama seemed like the easiest thing to do. Or the human thing to do, anyway. But instead, she insisted on playing this logical merry-go-round with David and trying to paint David as the villain (or the spirit) without ever actually denying his accusation. Maybe it had something to do with the superstition that most spirits were bound to always tell the truth (in the most roundabout way possible) or maybe it was because of some completely different reason. Either way... She certainly wasn't acting like a typical human girl right at this moment.
And for another thing... She just gave David an opening that could either make or break her whole argument right here and now.
The contacts.
With that, David only shook his head at the spirit in mock disappointment before he fixed his gaze to her straight to her black eyes before speaking again. "Speaking of contacts... If you say you have them, then how about you show them to me and Mr.Boyfriend here, hm?" he began almost offhandedly. "If these contacts are what made your eyes so interesting and cat-like before then I'd sure like to see them. What about you, Mr. Boyfriend? "
With that, the Obelisk fixed his attention firmly on the other boy and almost seemed to glare at him like an older brother about to chastize a younger sibling. It wasn't the way David actually intended, but he couldn't really help it either. Ever since coming to this island, he couldn't help but notice the large population of spirits that had attached themselves to some of the student body here. And this boy in front of him was no different than the rest. "And as for you... You mean to tell me that you haven't been sensing anything off about what's going on with Hathor? What do you instincts tell you? What do they tell you?" he said to him, but with a veiled meaning to his words. Was David referring to other boy's instincts as "they"... or was he referring to something else that was special about the boy.
Or perhaps even someone...

"They? Who the hell is they?! There is no one else here but the three of us!" said Shizuma wondering just what the hell this guy was. "And quite frankly if she doesn't feel like wearing the contacts right now then what's the big fucking deal?! Right now, the only one that my instincts are telling me is a threatening presence it's you. I don't know if this is part of some elitist attack on Slifer's or something but really cut it right the fuck out you little bastard."
The look in Shizuma's eyes was that of a steeled warrior's, he didn't like where this was going, and the implication of "they" could mean a lot of things but at this moment it was only the three of them...or so Shizuma thought. Little did he know of the extra presence that, unknowingly, he was defending.
