Louis Kachla stood outside the abandoned dorm, studying it with an inquisitive eye. Since his first day at duel academy he had heared rumors about this place. The night air sent a chill down Louis' coat, or it could have been the dark aura of the dorm. The dorm was forbidden to enter but could not resist coming here, a place that could prove his or others theories of the shadow realm. He pulled out his journal and flipped through the pages, studying the notes he had taken through the years. In the dorm could be evidence to prove any of this theories. He looked up from the book and at the dorm, the ruins hanging open like a gaping wound.

Someone was trying to make their way to the abandoned dorm. Zephyrus could see the shadow move in that direction from the window of his room. Even though the light was too faint to make out who it was, he could tell that he was moving from the direction of the Ra Yellow dorm. As he watched, the figure moved further and further until he completely retreated from the light of the campus. That was when Zephyrus figured he had seen enough, and he would take due course on the student.
Picking up his coat, flashlight, duel disk, and deck—all of the standard procedural items for the dark—he slipped out of the rear exit of his bed chamber and out onto the academy grounds. Within a few minutes of his long stride, he closed the distance to the abandoned dorm, where he once again saw the figure of the Ra delinquent studying the building. A lot of students took interest in the abandoned dorm; some even tried to break in, but the rule never changed. Students were not allowed to enter the ruins. Looks like this boy just didn’t feel there would be repercussions to his actions.
Zephyrus snuck up on him stealthily. Too stealthily. There was something empyrean, ethereal, about the way that he moved. He stalked the yellow like a leopard stalked his prey, and used the darkness to get so close that he could basically breathe on him, all without a sound. There was almost something demonic in how he could get so close—literally within arm’s length of the kid—but in the darkness of the night, the gentle breeze of the wind, and the distant chirp of the cricket, Zephyrus could move so daringly close to the boy without detection. He lined up just in front of him, so that the only thing that disrupted the boy’s line of sight with the assistant headmaster was the journal that he pressed up against his nose to read.
That disruption was about to be removed. And just as the book came down and his eyes lifted up in front of him, Zephyrus figured it was time to pounce… figuratively at least:
“Boo.”

When Louis brought his book down there was a face right in front of him. Now most people would have jumped back screaming in fright, but not Louis. Only because when he saw the face he was so scared his brained shorted out and died. He spent a couple of seconds just blinking as his mind rebooted, then he smiled and took the mans hand, shaking it. "Ah, so you had the same idea as mean, it is good to meet a fellow lover of the arcane arts. And you chose the best time to investigate to, full moons always bring out the best atmosphere. Its a good thing you're here I was a littled scared to go in but with the two of us this venture should go along more smoothly."
Louis was not really thinking while he was talking.

He pulled back his hand, choosing to ignore the handshake that the student had extended after he finally caught his bearings again. Zephyrus idly crossed his arms as he watched the Ra student spout off nonsensical whims about investigating and sharing his love of the arcane arts. Now, Zephyrus enjoyed the arcane arts as much as anyone else, but he also had a level of sensitivity about the rules. He wouldn’t have minded if the student had been more surreptitious in breaking them, but walking out in plain sight to the abandoned dorm was not the way to go. Just because it was dark doesn’t mean that he could have used it as an excuse not to sneak in more creatively.
“Actually,” Zephyrus finally spoke, his voice casual and without a hint of authority, which only seemed to make the position over the student that much worse, “I was thinking it would go more like this…
“I would drag you back to your dorm room, report you to your dormitory advisor, Mr. Grant, and then either expel you from the academy or give you detention for the rest of your adolescent life, whichever I feel would be more excruciating. How does that sound to you?”

"Well that doesn't sound nice at all," replied Louis looking at the man innocently. "In fact it sounds downright mean." The expression on the man's face reminded Louis of the priests back at the monastery. He did not know how to deal with this man just as he did not know how to deal with the priests.
"How about a third option, we sit down with a nice cup of hot cocoa and think about our place in the universe." Louis held up a thermos he was hanging on his belt.
