The sun was setting on the first say Jaeger had spent at the academy. It had been somewhat of a rush, getting the exams handled, classes signed up for, and rooming figured out. He had barely remembered to snatch his deck and Duel Disk before heading out to avoid any other duties for the rest of the night. Meeting his roommate could wait. For now, the Slifer was content with lying on the grass with his deck sitting on his chest and eyes gazing up at the clouds. His Duel disk sat beside him on the grass. Jaeger didn't plan on dueling anyone on his first day there, but he wasn't going to be caught unprepared, either, should someone choose to challenge him.
The boy was watching the changing colors of the clouds, waves crashing against the side of the island. Jaeger hadn't gone far from his new residence, hanging out by a close-by drop off. The only thing that would give away his position would be the red outfit and his orange highlighted hair. In any case, if people came, they came. If not, it wasn't any big deal. He would meet people eventually. If not in his classes, then from just wandering.
He moved one arm out from under his head, lifting up the top card of his deck and looking at the image of Shiba-Warrior Taro printed on it. "Well, my friend, looks like we finally made it somewhere grand. Who would have thought, right?" Even though it was only a card, Jaeger couldn't help but talk to it. Shiba-Warrior Taro had been his first ever Duel Monsters card, and old habits died hard.

Jugan stood over the other Slifer Red, a bemused look on his face. He might have looked serious, if it weren't for the retro, huge shades on his face. "So you're Jaeger Turrok? You don't look so manly to me..." Jugan commented.
The Slifer tilted his head and looked Jaeger up and down. "Just who the hell does the guy in charge of assigning rooms think he is?" Jugan sighed and reached behind him and grabbed his Duel Disk.
"As much as I'd rather not duel anyone on the first day... I'll have to challenge you to one to assess just how manly you are!" Jugan grinned, despite what he said. "And a real man never shows his back to the enemy, so if you reject, then you'll automatically fail my test!"

With the card still in his hand, Jaeger blinked at the other male towering over him. The Slifer could only blink, quite surprised at someone had actually approached him. Ah well. Company was company, and this student was talking about something. Jaeger set his Shiba-Warrior back on the top of his deck, keeping on hand on the stack of cards as he sat up.
At the 'manly' comment, the boy laughed. "Yeah. I get that a lot. It comes with being a bit skinny." He poked his abdomen, knowing there was a lack of any toned muscle.
Everything after that, that the other Slifer said, went right over Jaeger's head. A duel? Right now? Well, that was rather quick. Not to mention the reason for the duel. A duel to test how many he was? Jaeger had never even thought about considering himself manly. It had just never came to mind before. He could only blink at the taller boy.
Still, he understood the gist of it. Picking up his Duel Disk, Jaeger got to his feet, a smile on his face. "Alright. A duel it is."

"Alright. A duel it is." Jugan grinned and readied his disk. After his deck was shuffled and his hand drawn, he spoke. "I'll take the first move." He drew a card and examined his hand a bit, then snagged two cards. "First, I'll summon X-Head Cannon, in attack mode! Then, using its special ability, I'll play A-Summon Drone, in attack mode again! And to end, I'll play Luminous Spark! Your move, Turrok!"CiH: 3 Monsters: X-Head Cannon, A-Summon Drone S/T: Luminous Spark LP: 8000

With his deck shuffled, Duel Disk at the ready, and cards in hand, Jaeger watched the first move being played. "Not bad. Two monsters on the field by the end phase of your first turn." He drew a card, looking at the cards in his hand. It was alright for a first hand, but that X-Cannon Head would proof to be a difficult hurdle.
"I summon Mad Dog of Darkness in attack mode, and place one card face down. Next, I'll attack your A-Summon Drone with my Mad Dog!" His little smile didn't disappear and there was no sign of overconfidence present. "Next, from my hand I activate Fissure. Since your Cannon Head is the only monster on your side of the field, it's destroyed. With that, I'll end my turn."

Jugan grinned at Jaeger's counter and all the manliness it held. It took guts to summon a monster in attack mode when your opponent had a much stronger one out. "Alright then! My move!" Jugan drew a card and grinned.
"I'll play Mystical Space Typhoon on your facedown, and then play Hyper Synchron in Attack Mode!" Jugan played the cards,, watching them materialize before continuing. "Now I'll attack your Mad Dog of Darkness with Hyper Synchron!" Jugan grinned as his machine assaulted the beast. "And that'll end my turn!"

Rush Recklessly was destroyed by the Mystical Space Typhoon, and his Mad Dog sent to the graveyard with Hyper Synchron. His life points had had dropped, but nothing too far. "My draw, then." Jaeger drew a card from his deck, calmly looking over what he had in his hand to play. "I'll start by playing Forest. Your Luminous Spark is gone now, and my beast and beast-warrior monsters get a 200 point bonus.
"Next, I'll summon Nin-Ken Dog in attack mode." His Nin-Ken Dog had 2000 ATK points now, thanks to Forest. It was more than enough to get that Hyper Synchron off the field. "Nin-Ken Dog's going to take down your Synchron. I place one card face down and end my turn."

Jugan's grin only got wider. While he lacked motivation in most duels, ones like these got him fired up. "Looks like you might be better than I thought! My turn!" The taller Slifer drew his card and examined his hand for a bit. Just the right cards to make an insane strategy that would probably not work that well, but what're you gonna do when you're down by this many life points?
"I'll set a monster face down, and set a card backfield. And that'll be it for me!" Jugan smiled as he ended his turn.

No attack? Alright. That worked well for him. Jaeger drew. "I place Assault Dog in attack mode, and use him to attack your facedown." There were no monsters to stop a direct attack, now, and Nin-Ken would take out a chunk of Life Points. "Then, Nin-Ken Dog attacks your Life Points directly! End turn." Jaeger smiled at his opponent. "This is a good duel."

Jugan grinned. "I'm not one for traps or planning, but you fell right into mine." As the facedown was attacked, it was revealed. "Mecha-Dog Marron, when destroyed in combat, inflicts 1000 points of direct damage to us both." Jugan then activated his trap card. "But my Barrel Behind the Door takes any damage inflicted on me and redirects it straight to you!"
Jugan counted on his fingers. "I've never been real hot at math, but I think that's 2000." He shrugged. "Whatever. My turn." Sure, Jugan was behind now, but he never really aimed to win. Just get the thing over as quickly as possible to spare any embarrassment. Jugan drew his card.
"I'll set another monster, and another backfield."

Jaeger had fallen right into that. He was only lucky that he had the points to spare for the moment. His monsters were safe, and that meant he could send out another wave of attacks. He would have to play it smart, though. Ah, screw that. Since when had he ever played it smart? Everything was by gut feeling for Jaeger, and he wasn't about to stop now.
"I set one card facedown and attack with Assault Dog." The facedown monster was destroyed, leaving the field wide open for Nin-Ken Dog to make another direct attack on his Life Points. Jaeger didn't call for an attack, though. "I end." As long as he could keep monsters off the field, then no tribute summoning should be able to take place.

Jugan's grin grew even wider. Pushing his shades back up onto his face, Jugan explained what had just happened. "You just destroyed my Morphing Jar! Now we both discard our hands and draw five manly new cards!" Jugan grinned and drew a fresh hand, followed by the card for his draw phase.
In an odd way, this was how Jugan expected it to go. But the Slifer's true trump cards had yet to be seen. "First, I'll activate my Heavy Storm!" Jugan's face down turned face up, and washed away Jaeger's spells."[/color] Grabbing another card, Jugan summoned a monster. "I'll summon another Hyper Synchron! Then I'll special summon yet another A-Summon Drone! Now, to Synchro Summon!"
The two monsters phased out of view and were replaced with a new one. "Power Tool Dragon! When he comes into play, I can select three Equip Spells from my deck, and have you pick one at random!" Jugan picked his three spells and eagerly waited for Jaeger to choose among the three.
When Jaeger chose the one on the far right, Jugan was a tad disappointed, but still pleased. "That lets me add that card to my hand! But I'll just play it. I'll equip 7 Completed to Power Tool Dragon, raising it to 3000 points!"
"Now I use Power Tool Dragon to attack your Nin-Ken Dog! And that finishes my turn"

This was bad. In one foul swoop he had lost his spell cards and his strongest monster on the field. The only good thing was that his hand had been restocked with cards. There weren't the right cards to make an attack. That dragon had him on the edge, now. His dogs wouldn't be able to mount an attack until he got the right cards.
Why hadn't he attacked Assault Dog? Sure, the effect allowed him to special summon another monster to the field, but it had lower attack points than Nin-Ken Dog, and would inflict more damage to his Life Points. Well, that was a thankful move.
"I summon Hyena in defense mode and switch Assault Dog into defense mode. Then, one facedown." It was all he could think of to do with the cards in his hand. Those 3000 attack points of Power Tool Dragon's would be hard to beat. Jaeger knew he had some cards in his deck that would help, but the main one had been sent to the graveyard thanks to that Heavy Storm, not to mention one of his trump trap cards.

Jugan drew a card, pleased as his previous move. "Now I summon Z-Metal Tank, in attack mode!" Jugan summoned the monster, formulating a rather makeshift plan. "And I'll attack your Hyena with Z-Metal Tank, and your Assault Dog with Power Tool Dragon!"
