Despite his rather sombre upbringing Alexander is a suprisingly cheerful person who tries in almost every case to find the "silver" lining. Years of shifting foster families, never feeling part of a family and the occasional abuse suffered at the hands of foster "parents" has made him appreciate the simple luxuries in life, whilst trying to block out all the negatives. Whilst he manages on the outside to present a facade of happiness most of the time Alexander hides beneath this cover-up a handful of deep emotional scars that he very rarely mentions to anyone except his sister.History:
When it comes to other people Alexander usually finds himself slotting in amongst the more popular kids around. It's not that he seeks them out moreso than the fact that it's just where his personality leads him, he's not someone that likes having enemies, which is just another worry to add to his list. Hence he makes a genuine effort to get to know as many people as possible, to make friends in multitudes and enemies few. He knows the value that a good friendship can hold and although he sometimes can be a little bit emotional over something as simple as a friendship he genuinely cares for those close to him and would do almost anything to protect them.
Alexander and his twin sister Kayla have been orphans their entire life. They spent the large majority of their childhood living in a small orphanage in Perth, Western Australia, where they were born and it was here amongst the lowest of the low in Australian society that they found a love and a talent for Duel Monsters. It was their escape from the reality of their situation, knowing that they would grow up alone, never loved, never part of a family.Status: Ra Yellow
By the time they'd turned ten both Alexander and Kayla were already entering regional tournaments after months of bargaining with their social services manager. Whilst they weren't winning tournaments at this age they were youngest competitors by at least five years and still managed to compete at a relatively high level of play.
When the time came for them to be moved into the Foster Care system Kayla and Alexander only had one thing they needed to take with them; their cards. So they were carted from foster family to foster family, some abusive, some giving the twins the vain hope that family might sill be possible before passing them on like a baton to the next runner in a relay race that only ended in disaster. Eventually thei duel spirits become they closest thing theyhad to a family, amongst themselves and their duel spirits Kayla and Alexander managed to find some kind of solace from the crazy world around them.
It was on their thirteenth birthday that the twins receieved the news they'd been waiting for for their whole lives. A way out of the cycle they had once been restricted to by fate. The Australian Youth Dueling Association was holding a nationwide tournament to find the best young duelist in the country. The winner of the National Youth Tournament, or NYT, would be offered a scholarship to Duel Academy fully paid for by the Australian Dueling Association. After weeks of pleading and bargaining with the organisation that effectively controlled their lives both Kayla and Alexander were given permission to enterthemselves into the competition and after obtaining enough ranking points throught local tournaments the twins both qualified for the finals, on opposing sides of the draw.
As the grand final drew closer it was apparent to everyone that the competetition was a three horse race. That Hazror "Duo" as they had been dubbed, were bltzing through their competition at an outstanding pace and yet the third competitor, one Robert Yung, had been eliminating his opponents in the first few turns of the duel. When the semi-finals approached Alexander managed another victory that guaranteed him a spot in the final against either Kayla or Robert.
Unbeknown to anyone else in the competition, Robert was a young Shadow Duelist. Kayla, whom had never experienced anything quite like the duel she was now experiencing struggled to cope with the mental strain that comes with such a duel. She collapsed in a heap before the duel even managed to really get underway, such a collapse resulted in immediate forfeit and as Kayla was hurried to Hospital Alexander was forced to stay behind and face off against Robert in the finals.
Needless to say Alexander had no experience with the dangers that come with a shadow duelist but he'e known something was up when Kayla had collapsed. As such he came mentally prepared and although the duel was a struggle from start to end Alexander managed to pull out the victory that guaranteed him the shot at life he;d been waiting for for fourteen years.
After the awards ceremony Robert Yung dissapeared, when authorities tried to track him down later it was found that no such person named "Robert Yung" had ever been born, or even immigrated into Australia. Without any real trace authorities gave up the ghost and no one has tried finding him since.
Kayla, to this day, remains in hospital with what the doctors describe as an unexplainable coma. Alexander, unconvinced, was faced with the moral dilema of staying by his sister's side or taking advantage of what was possibly the one shot he would get at a life outside of foster care. Knowing what Kayla would have wanted Alexander chose to accept the scholarship he'd, promising at the same time to save his sister from whatever it is that ails her back home.
So now The Boy from Oz comes to Duel Academy, ready for a new start on life... a second chance.

Additional Information:If you'd asked Alexander Hazror six months ago what he thought he'd be doing today, I'm willing to bet it cerainly wouldn't have been flying in a private jet from Australia to the most prestigous duel academy in the world. Yet here he was, on his was to Duel Academy to represent Australia as the first recipient of the Young Duelist Scholarship.
It seemed so unlikely, last week he'd still been in foster care. Last week he'd never even considered flying in a plane, let alone a jet... last week he's still been with Kayla... A sharp pang of pain struck him at the thought of his sister lyiing unconcious in the hospital bed back home.
There has to be more to it... It dosen't make sense
What kind of person just... collapses in the middle of duel. How in the world could dueling cause a coma... Alexander knew there was more to it, he'd felt that same forboding dread when he'd dueled Robert only a few days back. The thought made him shudder and he tried to block out the feeling.
As he looked outside Alexander found a means by which to distract himself. The island was slowly coming into view, he'd only ever imagained it and yet here it was. No more than an hour away... Excitment bubbled inside him, this was his shot at life. His one chance to make a name for himself...
He was going to make the most of it.
