Nothing quite stands out when it comes to Travis’s body. Skinny really isn’t a word to describe this student. He’s just normal, flat bellied but without abs and with little muscle tone. He’s even without a tan, due to him not really attempting to get one. The acolyte stands at a normal 5’6, though he’s usually in a slouch, so you can’t really tell his real height.Personality:
As for specific details, Travis’ only defining feature is his right ear, which has a split in the lobe. Other details would be the color of his eyes being a light green. His eyebrows are slightly thicker than a well kempt female’s. He’s not exactly heterosexual; it’s just that his eyebrows grow dreadfully slow. His nose is smaller than it should be, so it doesn’t take up as much space on his face. His mouth, on the other hand, is noticeably larger for someone his age. He doesn’t have plump lips, or anything. He’d fear social interaction if they were.
His light red hair is quite messy, looking as if it was taken off of a mop that had just been cleaning Kool-Aid. It covers his forehead and only three small strands fall under his eyebrows. The hair gathers up into a few dull spikes in the back and sweep to the right naturally, Travis being unable to keep it straight. His hands are larger than the males in the family when they were his age.
As a student of Duelist Academy and a member of Ra Yellow, he sports the normal Ra Yellow uniform; Yellow and white jacket, light grey undershirt and black pants. His shoes, though, seem to be different than the regulation garbs. They’re white, but with a streak of deep brown running through the sides. A black, fingerless glove covers his right hand and the scar from the fire.
Travis is relatively silent during the school day. Even when he returns to his dorm room, he barely speaks to anyone. It’s not that he wants to be silent; it’s just that no one speaks to him much. It’s highly unlikely that there’s a huge scheme focusing on not talk with him. It could be because, when he does talk, people seem to hear a high-and-mighty tone of voice. Honestly, Travis has no idea what they mean when people do tell him that. He’s one of the most humble people in the entire Academy; how can they hear such a tone? Maybe it’s because of people hating his deck? Either way, he’s quiet. Moving on…History:
Around groups of people, Travis feels a bit safer, because he knows he can rely on these people to tell him when something bad is happening. As a regular teenager, Travis actually is normal. He spends his time with his friends and duels when he’s bored. When he’s low on good cards, he buys some more and is as lazy as any other student. People still seem to seclude him from their groups, though. During duels, there’s a driving force that tells him to push forward and keep his head up high, even through tough moments. The student says the force is his determination to win a duel against the most elite duelists, but whether or not that’s completely true is up to further speculation.
”Oh dear lord! He’s gone and done it for the second time! What did I tell him about being careful!?” The nurse was in a frantic rush as she had a few of the male students bring and injured Travis Sykes to the nurse’s office. This was the second time he had fallen off the top of a tree and caused himself to acquire a concussion. Luckily for this student, he hadn’t broken any limbs this time, nor had he caused any damage to the brain. He was pretty bruised up, though, with cuts and bruises engulfing his body. In the mind of Travis sparked a relapse of his past, something he already thought about enough.Status: Ra Yellow
In his dreams, Travis sat in a long, reclined chair in a psychiatrist’s office. A male in a dreary old suit was sitting in a cushioned chair on his right side, holding a wooden clipboard and paper. ”So, Mr. Travis; what is it that you would like to talk about today? I’m sure there are a few things running around in your mind?” The student stared blankly at the ceiling fan, watching as it twirled around aimlessly. ”We could talk about my past? Would that end this session?” The wrinkled man nodded as he prepared his clipboard. Travis sighed as he began to speak about his history, whether it be relevant to his health, or not.
”In my time as a young child, I was pretty normal. I was like every other child; I wanted to be just like Yugi, the King of Games. I was infatuated with Duel Monsters and couldn’t get enough of it. I wasn’t any good at it, mind you. My decks were just full of random cards that I threw together. They were never that special, either. I never got a rare card in my entire childhood. All of my cards were second edition and were laughed at by the other children. I cared not for their ridicule, though, because I knew my cards better than any of them. That’s why it surprises me at how much I lost back then. It’s all bad luck, I guess.”
”When I won a duel, I treated myself to a new pack of cards. I remember that new card smell from the old days; it was so awesome! Nowadays, I barely take a breath through my nose while dueling with new cards. Then, I remember when people began to duel against began to dwindle. I looked towards going to book stores where they held tournaments, but even then, I was starting to win and it became a bit boring. I began to study more and actually wanted to become a lawyer for awhile. I grew up and became a teenager, having other dreams, such as about pretty women and good grades. I still had my cards, but I rarely ever brought them out of their protective case. They were, like, taboo when trying to get a girl.”
”That’s when the fire happened. I had come home from school and wasn’t aware of my mother’s note on the refrigerator that told me to take out the oven roast. My parents were going to be away for a few hours, so that gave the roast plenty of time to burn and cause an array of embers to spark other things. I was asleep for a good while, since the day had drained me. It wasn’t until I heard sirens outside and felt the stinging smoke in my eyes that I noticed what was going on. My room was covered in fire. I looked for a way to escape, but could barely see past a foot in front of me. I took the low ground and crawled around. Luckily for me, the doors weren’t completely engulfed, so I took my shirt and attempted to twist the knob.”
”It worked, but I had to stand up to do it, causing me to become hindered by the black smog overhead. I couldn’t stop at just that, because I knew I was going to soon become like my room, a simple tool to fuel a burning force. I ran for the living room and tripped over something large. I’m not sure what it was, but it brought me down and my right hand here was caught by some flames. It wasn’t until a few of the firemen came in that I was saved. The entire time I was awake, all I could think about was my deck. All of my hard work was gone. The fire turned it into ashes and there was no getting it back. I only had one card left and that was from a female friend of mine. It’s special to me and I think of it as my signature card.” Travis dug into his pocket and brought the special card out. The psychiatrist nodded at this and smiled. ”It sure is a good card. It’s amazing that someone could be so generous. To give up such a rare card to a friend…”
”Yeah. Gandora here has proved useful in many of those tight situations. Well, anyways, I decided to build my deck again, but this time, it was going to be based around Gandora. I didn’t have time to test it out, because the Duel Academy sign-ups were just a day away. I was one of the people who signed up for the preliminary examination. With my deck, I surprisingly rocked the house and snatched myself a sweet spot in Ra Yellow, as you can tell from my garments. I can’t really remember anything else, for some reason.” ”That’s fine, because…”
”Hey! I think he’s waking up!” Travis’s eyes flickered and suddenly shot open. His entire body jolted forward and he looked around, taking in deep breaths as he did so. ”Travis, what’s wrong? Is everything okay?” Must think of something witty to say… Eh… Um… ”Ah, man! I was having this good dream about this really hot chick and…” The nurse popped Travis over his head, sighing loudly. She was positively peeved, but seemed to be relieved to know that Travis was the same ol’ person.

”So, basically, the highlight of your day was buying a pack of cards?” Travis sat on an outside bench, alongside his best friend Karen, talking about each other’s day. It was quaint, the spot they had chosen, although a few people did pass by. It was probably not the most private of places, but it worked for what the two were doing. Karen seemed to get irritated at her friend’s simplifications of her days. Couldn’t he just leave them alone and stop abridging them? Unfortunately not, because that’s exactly what Travis does best.Additional Information:
”No, it’s not! I had plenty of highlights! Buying a card pack was only one of them. I got good grades on my tests and got to sit next to…” Karen suddenly faded out as she watched Travis’s eyes swerve towards the hiked-up skirt of a female student. That was the one thing he could always get away with; staring at women and not get caught. ”Liiissstteeen! Stop staring at that girl and talk with me! Isn’t that what this time of day all about?” ”Actually, it’s about me taking a nap, but you always force me to go with you to a different spot every day, just so we can talk about the day.” Karen grumbled under her breath as she stared into her friend’s eyes. Angrily, of course.
”Why do you have to be such a butthole all of the time?” ”Why do you always want to talk about your day all the time? Answer me that and I’ll answer your question.” Perfect way to impress a girl, Travis, perfect way.
[Matt Edit: The sample is fine, Rush. But should you be in Elysion on research...?]
