DJ sighed as he shoved his hands in his pocket, shuddering a bit as he took a walk through the cold midnight courtyard. He needed a bit of time to clear his head with everything he had been working on lately. It was nothing extraordinary, but it was enough to keep him busy with the way he devoted himself to things. He swore when he left home he'd become stronger to make up for the powerlessness he felt during the tragedies he'd experienced there, but even after he came to this school, he didn't feel his strength increase at all. He sighed and shivered again, crossing his arms in an attempt to warm himself up. "Okay... maybe taking a walk in the middle of a winter night without a coat wasn't my best idea ever..."
His thought was interrupted when he tripped over something that felt like a patch of ice, he fell directly on his face, his glasses flying off and shattering on the concrete. "What the hell-? Ice? I thought they kept this place salted in case of freezing,.." He looked back and saw what he had tripped over, a small reddish ball. His eyes fixed on it a bit, pupils swirling in the directions it seemed to be swirling, seemingly mesmerized by it. "What's this thing?" He reached over and picked it up, sighing as he looked over at his broken glasses. "Damn, now I'll have to get a new pair..."
He reached out for the frames, shaking his head. The frames were intact but the lenses were completely shattered. He blinked as he realized something, holding them up to his eyes, noticing no change in his vision, and the formerly corrective lenses now obscured his vision. "I can... see?" He blinked lightly as he put the glasses in his pocket, looking around the courtyard, things looked even clearer than they had a minute ago. "Wow, what a lucky break. I fall down, don't break my neck or get blinded by glass shards, plus I don't need my glasses anymore..." He looked down at the red bauble. "Are you like a good luck charm? I think I'll keep you... What could possibly go wrong?"
