After what seemed like a while, Will pulled Mizuki to the bluffs over the sea, where the waves crash near but not at the top of the cliffs, where Will took her. It was partly cloudy, however it did seem like the sun was shining down on the bluff itself. It was.. enjoyable.
Will let go of her hand and stuffed both of his in his pockets. Without another word, he walked the few remaining steps to the end of the cliff, where the land met the ocean, and stood against the breeze, his hair and uniform flowing out behind him.
His eyes were closed to the salty air, and a very small grin began to grow on his face. He came here a lot.. but always alone, and always for a reason. She was about to find out that reason, he was ready to tell her. But still, for now, at the edge of the world, he stayed silent.

By the clouded light it was clear that the woman was very small and fragile. In fact, had he not practically dragged her to the place, she probably wouldn't have come, as she was small but terribly out of shape. She was merely 5'0 and quite scrawny. Her small frame was only made more prominent by her box-like body and her large cranium. Her eyes were narrow but seemingly bigger behind her giant glasses. They were black and wire-rimmed, they covered her eyes and the thick perscription magnified them. Her greyish hair she had dyed that way herself, but currently it was slightly dampened with the sweat on her brow. She didn't go anywhere quickly in the heat of September.
She rubbed her nose and looked around her, next moving towards her blazer garbed arm and rubbing it with nerves. When he had started to drag her, she had just come along, not knowing what would happen but too stunned to really protest to anything. Now she just stood in front of him... or rather behind him, slightly apprehensive about what would happen.

"I always used to come here last year, before I left." he said, looking out to the sea. He spoke only to hear, listened only for her, even if his gaze was to the opposite direction. He was going to tell her everything.. why he spend so much time in grief, and why she hadn't seen him much last year.
"This and the high cliffs overlooking the island, that is, but this spot is perhaps my favorite." he continue, taking off his sunglasses, and his backpack. He then dropped the sunglasses onto the bag without actually looking at it.
"My parents were obsessed with the weather.. they worked for Japan's Met office, you see. They were researchers originally from the United States, however, they just loved it in Japan. My father specialized in severe storms, specifically tropical storms. My mother was in the field of marine meteorology. The Home Islands were just the pefect place for them both." he explained, a tear falling from his face already, as he willingly allowed his memories to come through.
"My.. my.. my father always used to joke that their passion would be their end, either weather, or me. They believed the best way to understand these storms was to go through it personally, to research from within. However, with the exception of storms here, they didn't want their precious child to risk his own life travelling with his parents, so when they travelled, I stayed behind. Everytime it was the same. 'We'll be back after it passes.' Everytime they did, telling their stories of how it went. Except for one time. Just one time, they never came back..." he said, letting it drift as he paused, while shiffing his nose.

She stood off to the side and then watched and listened. So that was what was up and why he was crying. How long ago had it been? If he had been not here last year then presumably it had happened last year, didn't it? She put her hands behind her back and watched him carefully.
She had seen that he had taken off his sunglasses and she saw his eyes for the first time... brilliant green, yet another indication that he wasn't a natural Japanese man. She tilted her head to the side and then kept on listening. Then she looked out towards the sea.
"I'm adopted but I can't claim that." She murmered. For once she didn't have any form of stammering whatsoever. In fact she was more thoughtful and less nervous then usual. She pushed her glasses up her nose.
"Keep your memories close of them. They're precious things to have... at least... I would think so." She muttered.

"Memories are all I have left, Mizuki-chan. And its tortured me for years." Will commented, dropping down so that his legs tangled over the ege. He moved his arm in to grab his sleeve and then proceeded to wipe his eyes. It was clear that they were a little red, as if he spent nearly every night crying.
"I honor them every day, and everyday I remember them, because if I don't, they vanish. Thats another reason why it was hard for me to stay here last year. They supported me, but they never understood my fascination with Duel Monsters. Last year, I.. I just couldn't bring myself to stay. But I'm trying agai this year." he said, just emptying his own heart to her.

She didn't know what to think. She had actually even blushed when he had been so familiar and called her Mizuki-chan. She had no idea why he was so familiar with his speech. It was probably because his heritage was American. She just stood off to the side and watched him carefully.
She'd let him say his own thing. She wasn't good with speaking. She wasn't all that well off with feelings either. She just basically... wasn't that good with this sort of thing at all, to tell the truth.

Will looked down as the salt spray shot back up at him, he dangling his increasingly wet shoes and pants. He wanted to say more, but suddenly he found.. not else to say, really. He basically said it all.. he opened his heart to her, and suddenly found he cleaned it out. It was.. shorter then expected.
"I'm probably depressing you right now, aren't I? The whole 'moping is a waste of time' thing?" he simply asked, turning to face her this time.. to lock eyes with her.

"If it's helping you to not mope then no. You don't waste my time." She oddly enough felt braver, calmer, more like the serious logical person that she was inside. Her eyes were looking straight back into his with their brown glitter.
"Do they want you to live? Or do they want your mind to die? Because that's what it's doing, thinking about them." It pained her to say it, even terrified her to say these words, but she had to say it. She bowed deeply to hide herself and to hide her fear from the boy. "Constantly being closed up, running away... that's not living, that's existance."

"Of course they would want me to live! Thats why I never left Japn!" he said, rather exasterbly. The thought was incredible, only because he had never thought of it before. And because of that, his only reaction was to go onto the defensive.
"I can't let their memory die, its all that I have left!" he said, dropping his head into his hands. The tears began to flow, and he didn't know what to do. Truth was, he never released his emotions like this around anyone, and that was probably the problem. He always kept everything inside, he wanted to be strong... and in doing so, made himself weak.

She stood there as quietly and as rigidly as she had been before. The slight brushes of grass tickled against her ankles and she felt very much uncomfortable in her shoes, just standing here solidly like a statue. The wind skitted around her in quite the dramatic fashion, and she shivered quietly, just the tiniest of trembles escaping from her body.
"There's a difference between not letting their memory die and skipping school, throwing away your life. How many times will you come back here? How many times will you come back to just torture yourself?" She said as she turned around. She was scared to say it.
"You really think they wouldn't have a go at you for dropping out of school?" She said quietly, and then she started to walk away. Her only thought was that that was one potential friendship she had shattered.

Will sat in silence as she started walking away, deep in thought. She was right, and Will never wanted to admit it. No comfort, this was something akin to tough love. She forced him to recount these last 4 years, and what he had been doing with his life.
What HAD he done with his life? Will realized that he couldn't think of anything... notable.. that he actually did in 4 years. He kept his head down, or behind the mask he set up with sunglasses and a hood. He only revealed himself, his true face.. in the comfort of the guardian home he lived in, or his own dorm room. He spent hours in front of the picture of his parents.. days even. The only time he was out he was solumn, staring at the sky and asking why, or staring at the sea and adding more water to it via his eyes.
In 4 years, Will had killed himself.
"Mizuki-chan.. wait." he said, getting up and turning to her, facing her for the first time with his true face, it was red and tear-striken, but at the same time, his eyes said it all.. she was right.
"I'm.. I'm sorry."

Mizuki-chan? Why was this man so familiar with her? It made her blush as she was turned away from him but then she looked back with only her eyes shifting. Those brown eyes that had at one moment been so meek were so critical and hard... tough love... it was something that had to be administered, and it had been one of the scariest things she had ever done to speak her own mind.
She turned back fully towards him with the blush gone off her face, staring at him for a long moment straight in his eyes. Then she walked slowly towards him and had to bite her tongue to not blush as she patted his shoulder.
"It's alright to cry, and alright to not forget, but not alright to not live." She murmered to him.

"I.. I dunno what to say." Will said, feeling his arm grow warm where her arm stayed. He looked into her eyes, and saw something.. or at least he thought he saw something, and then sighed, almost giving a smile, but not able to.
"Mizuki.. would you mind.. at least watching the sunset with me.. before you go?" Will asked, suddenly not wanting her to leave as of yet.

She blinked and nodded, taking her hand from his shoulder. She motioned towards the cliff edge and then went over to it. Then she made sure her mini-skirt reached over her backside before she went and sat at the edge, her legs tightly crossed. She leaned back onto the palms of her hands and for once took off her overly large and magnified glasses, closing her eyes for a moment.
"Usually I don't approve of skippers but today was a good circumstance." The girl, not being able to see the reactions upon faces without her glasses, now seemed mroe confident. She ended up pointing towards the general direction of Will with her glasses and looked chiding. "Just don't do it again. And try to pay attention, would you? It's a waste of money to come here and not pay attention. I only wish I could afford that." She shook her head. "The only way I ever could was if one of my fathers decided to sell the nightclub."

Will joined her and sat down.. but when she took her glasses off, Will nearly fell off. He had to admit she was rather cute with the glasses, but when she took them off.. even for a young looking girl, she had the effect of being stunning, especially with the sea breese, the spray, the glint of the sun... wow.
"It will take time, but I think I can at least manage." he said, turning back to the sun. "Every storm take times to use up the energy its stored. It will take a little time for my imbalance to reset.. but I think I can manage now. I just needed someone to make me see that." he said. Internally smiling, but of course not smiling on the outside. Will placed his hands down to lean back, enjoying the sunset.
