Ethan peered over to admire what the other student had put together. Speaking of putting decks together, he really should register his deck iwth the Academy so he could use it. But that was something for later.
"So DJ...what deck are you running?" Part of Ethan was curious, the other part was just gamesman's instinct. When you can get in to an opponent's head, regardless how much time has passed, you can exploit everything they know, turn anything they know against them. And when you know what's coming...it's a lot easier to prepare for it.

"I'm really working on a lot of decks, but the only one I have completed is the one I've had for years." DJ answered quietly, he didn't mind giving away his stretegies, he figured anyone with enough initiative to look in the records would find out anyway, so why not? "Generally all my decks are Dragon decks. The one I'm running now is sort of a general dragon-based deck made for beatdown wins and a bit of a swarm, not very original but can be effective if you can keep the field prescence." He smiled warmly and tilted his head.
"How about you? Got anything interesting in the works? You must have if you came here, or at least have some kind of vague inspiration of what you want to do anyway." He shrugged, sticking the cards he got into his extra deck and fiddling around with his main deck a bit, watching the other two boys.

Ethan shrugged. "Eh, I'm still debating on exactly how I'm going to put the deck together but I know it's going to be chaotic. The less your opponent knows about what will happen, the more likely you are to have an edge."
This was a truth he learned at home and one he took to heart. Good players vary their play styles so they can't be put on a certain hand at any given moment. It's all about controlling information. How much you give, and how much you get.

DJ chuckled lightly. "I suppose so, I'm still working on a few odd decks myself, so who knows? However In my experience is that the way an player uses the deck and utilizes what they're given is more important than what the deck is. You can memorize your opponent's deck to death, but you won't know all of them, and you won't have any way to prepare for what they draw on a particular day. That's why I think player psychology and deductive reasoning is more important that deck construction, but that's just me." He shrugged. He should probably have gotten back to his dorm and finished unpacking soon, but this was an interesting conversation for now and he didn't want to just stand up and leave like that.
